On the button again Jamo....nice one.
From my own experiences especially when I was getting ready for my first show 10 years ago(I think I said I never made it to the stage in an earlier blog) was a disaster and a failure for those same reasons outlines in Jamo's vid blog here.
Expecting to much to soon, comparing my results and progress to the next guy.
Focus on yourself guys n gals and I don't worry about what the other person is doing. Sometimes slow and steady does win the race.
You do need to do 'some' planning however as they say "if you fail to plan you will plan to fail", but do it in weekly/daily chunks, this way you won't be to disappointed and lose heart. I see so many people quitting because they want quick results and their desires and expectations do not match the real time results of their efforts. If you do little small time scaled goals you will actually hit your overall goal without realising it. Its all in the mind as the say and from my own experiences if the mind fails the body will surely be right behind it.
This might sound crazy but before I start the day..usually whilst on the tram going to work I visualise what I will do and the set up. My timing of my meals combined with what I have planned for the gym and then also my work goals to. It gives me direction and its something I never had when I first started training.
I also agree with Jamo and the scales. Go by the mirror, especially the ladies. Your weight fluctuates throughout the day from when you eat to when you use the bathroom and a ladies weight will most definitely fluctuate throughout the month, especially when its 'that time'.
If you must use the scale, like Jamo said...it must be first thing, no clothes on. Thats your true bodyweight.
