I love this exercise.
I love this exercise. Everything about it is awesome. I also love how there are people I know who think they have strong legs because they do a shallow squat with heavy weight and then they try an exercise like this and it opens their mind up. 5/5
wow...
I really agree with the risk of hurting yourself, i think i prefer squats and leg extensions and so on. I can however recommend a one legged squat, support the resting leg on a chair behind u and squat
what you're describing is
what you're describing is the bulgarian squat actually (no joke) but i like to call it split squat haha
As far as the exercise in the video...again, VERY adv. exercise...and you have to work your way up to doing it as shown above...however, when preformed correctly as a fun supplement to your training routine--the results are amazing all over!!!

I thought...
I thought a "Sissy squat" is a squat with your heels off the ground. I don't like them because of ACL loading. This exercise is what I call "the pistol," or single leg squat. It will be virtually impossible for most men not to lean forward on this exercise- center of gravity is too high to keep straight up- even if you have loose calves. People, this is an advanced exercise and will injure you if you're not ready for it. Bad knees means don't do it. Oh, and drive through your heels to engage your glutes- protect the knee by minimizing ACL loading (use less quad).
Totally
..agree with being an advanced exercise . I also agree with the sissy squat being an exercise that could really damage your ACL that's why I always hated them . Now as far as the name is concerned Pistol squat , One leg Sissy squat its all a personal choice . Performing this exercise needs definitely a lot of work attention on using the heel and driving up through the hip . AND YES IT IS AN ADVANCED EXERCISE MAKE SURE YOU ARE VERY ADVANCED WHILE PERFORMING THIS EXERCISE . If you are a beginner try to hold on to a body bar for example while learning the movement until you build enough strength to do it without holding . And again I say it again as far as you keep your chest up and you driving through the heel you doing fine . GOOD CATCH ASSFITMAN !
Huh????....
I see Nor feel anything SISSY about this...This Hurts!!!!
