Fish oil for joint pain??

Ravinous's picture

I didn't know that. Maybe that's why my shoulder pains went away so fast... well, not totally, but I can bench heavy again after 2 weeks of going a bit lighter. Thanks guys

another question! :D

So.... Since i do not currently have any "moderate to severe" pian in my shoudlers, or much of any pain period, should I not be taking Glucosamine-MSM?

Is there a supplement I should be taking to be PROactive and keep my overall JOINTS healthy?
(what about food sources to keep my joints healthy, as I always look to foods before "supps")

Joint issues...

I wouldn't take glucosamine or MSM since they are designed to be used for the treatment of osteoarthirits or to prevent the progression of the disease. The best advice is to be "nice" to your joints and increase the omega-3:omega-6 ratio in the diet since, generally speaking, omega-3's are anti-inflammatory and omega-6's are pro-inflammatory...

I would certainly look into fish oil...and incorporate some fish, flaxseed, hemp, walnuts, soybeans, winter squash and various other legumes.

Heh, I've never done the behind the head lat pulldowns but I do always touch my chest on pressing movements. Up until my injury in my shoulder, I would touch my clavicle when performing military presses, even with heavy weight, and I have come to find that perhaps that performed a major role in injuring my shoulder.
FOr DB Flyes I try to go where my elbows fall at, or just below parallel, which sounds wrong after watching this video.

So Brian, what is the proper Range Of Motion for these following exercises then? I have a feeling I've been doing them wrong.
1) Military Press
2) Dumbell Flyes
3) Flat, Incline, and Decline Presses

Yikes!!! LOL

Your comment about military presses is making MY shoulder hurt!!!

The general guideline on presses is to keep your arm angle at about 90 degrees. So, for most folks, when doing bench, you should be stopping the movement when the bar is still coming down. The nice thing is that you will actually be using more of your muscle tissue to stop the movement rather than your chest. Same thing with military presses...your elbow should create an angle of about 90 degrees or so.
For the dumbell fly, I keep my arm even with my chest....

haha, well I'm glad to know the correct form now. i've never bounced the weight for presses, I always 'lightly brush' the area I come down to and keep concentration on the muscles.

Also, which fats are better for joint lubrication, polyunsaturated or mono unsaturated? and which of these do Omega3's andOmega6's fall into?
