A Little About Me
I'm a 45 year old 7th generation native Californian. I'm currently engaged to be married. I'm mom to 3 teenage girls: a 19 year old college student/dancer, and 16 year old twins who play high school volleyball, basketball, and run track/throw shot.
I teach Kindergarten, and have been teaching for 21 years. My husband to be is a software engineer for a large company based in Chicago. He remotes from our home in California, which is so nice. We enjoy hiking together and Iyengar yoga, which he began practicing with me two years ago. I sub for my yoga instructor, and practice at home as well. In the summer, I add swimming to my daily cardio, and my guy does baseball. We are both working together to lose the "happy fat" that we put on over the last 2 years, when we moved in together!PS: I'm also a BIG SPARKPEOPLE.COM GEEK! I'm whatagrl42 on that site, and will be at the first annual Sparkpeople "Spark your life" health and fitness convention at the San Diego Convention Center, May 2nd. See u there?? *smiles*
When I Started Working Out
seriously, in July of 2006How I Started
I met a trainer at my gym that really motivated meWhy I Love It
It keeps me looking younger than my actual age!How I Stay Motivated
I read a lot of health and fitness benefits of exerciseMy Worst Injury
a "yoga" injury: during "cow's pose", I decided I was too cool to use a strap. As a result, my first rib got caught up on my scapula. My PC md thought I had torn a rotator cuff. I went to physical therapy, where the therapist knew right away what I had done. She "popped" it back into place, and gave me some exercises to do, along with some temporary limitations. Now, I use a strap for asanas that are literally "out of my reach".
I Would Love To Meet
a family ancestor.

Here in Chicago for the summer
Posted July 13th, 2009 by whatagrlI'm here in the Windy City for the summer, and there is just SO much to do! Workouts have been different than at home, since I haven't found a gym close by that does the body systems/group fitness classes, but I have been enjoying yoga, pilates, and CAPONIERA in Milleneium Park. I felt prettty stoked that out of the 200 people present, I'm one of the only ones who was willing to/ could do cartwheels, both 2 and 1 handed.
