A Little About Me
Hi and thanks for visiting my site. My name is Glenn and I am AGELESS at heart. :)
I have lived a diversified life. I am a former Marine and Vietnam veteran. I have worked as a software engineer, Chiropractor, college professor and now as a network field support engineer.
I enjoy sports, especially triathlon, ice hockey and college football. I am somewhat athletic as I have played ice hockey, baseball and softball. I have also completed several triathlons, half marathons and a century ride.
I am extremely interested in health and fitness, which of course includes nutrition and exercise. I want to get back into shape and participate in additional triathlons, century rides, half-marathons and maybe even marathons.
My ultimate dream goal is to be a FINISHER in an Ironman triathlon. That goal is down the road a bit, because one has to learn to walk, before you can run, right?. :)
When I Started Working Out
February 2007How I Started
Just doing some brisk walkingWhy I Love It
Still working on getting to LOVE it. LOL!How I Stay Motivated
With encouragement and support from my friends and familyMy Worst Injury
I've had several...concussion, shoulder, elbow, abdominal hernia. Although not an injury per se my greatest physical challenge was beating prostate cancer in 2008.
I Would Love To Meet
Positive, goal oriented and highly motivated people. I would especially like to meet people who are in the so-called "middle aged" bracket who have had weight control issues and overcame them to become physically fit, HOT, and changed their lifestyle, behavior patterns and mindset to maintain their gains.
I'm partial to the ladies, but guys as well are welcome and truly, age doesn't really matter to me. I can learn just as much from the young as I can from the "mature", perhaps more. :)
Goals
Main Goal
Be in better shape and physical condition by end of 2008Short Term Goal
Be consistent with my workouts and nutritionLong Term Goal
Be a FINISHER in an Ironman triathlonBodyfat Goal
15%Weight Goal
minimum 200 pounds, less would be even betterFavorites
Bodyparts (Opposite Sex)
Love ALL bodyparts. LOL!!! But I am a leg man. :))) Abs and glutes are next.
Bodyparts (Yours)
Chest, shoulders, arms
Exercises
This is where I need some help and direction. My ultimate long term goal is to be a FINISHER in an Ironman triathlon.
Healthy Foods
This is my MAJOR area of concern. I want to learn to eat better quality food, but it has to be palatable. I'm open to ALL suggestions and help. In training for ANY athletic event I believe that nutrition is paramount, but I also want to eat in a way the will help me trim down my body fat, too. Of course, ultimately I need to eat in a manner to aid me in training and being a FINISHER in an Ironman triathlon.
Not So Healthy Foods
Starbucks, McDonalds, KFC, In-n-Out, any junk food. LOL!!!
Supplements
I need help here too. I'm not very consistent at taking vitamins or ANY supplement for that matter.
Hobbies
Riding my Harley, R/C aircraft, and building scale models...and of course, surfing the web, which I do WAY TO MUCH!!!Magazines
I subscribe to Triathlete, Bicycling and Runner's World. Any suggestions on any other magazines would be appreciated. I don't know if I should get any of the magazines like Muscle and Fitness or Flex or Planet Muscle. Would the latter magazines be of any benefit to me for the goals I have set?
Books
Last book was The Five People You Meet in Heaven.
Workout Music
I like music with a quick or really fast beat, but I am open to suggestions as to what is best for any type of training, whether it be interval, fatburning, running for sprints or long distance running, etc. I have an IPOD Nano, so I am open to ANY suggestions.

Posted November 9th, 2008 by TriGuyI just wanted to let you know that I am using the fitness tracker feature here on MFT. I had been really proud of my progress up until two weeks ago. I had made steady progress in LOSING weight even though I didn't see any real change in my % body fat. I was perplexed by this but a couple of MFT folks thought my weight loss was probably due more to lean muscle loss rather than fat loss.
