A Little About Me
I am DIFFERENT from ANYONE you have ever met!!! I am not trying to be conceited or arrogant when I say that, but I can say it without a shadow of a doubt!!! Where do I start? Well, I am a former National-level competitive bodybuilder who was forced into retirement for several reasons. However, my passion truly lies in pushing myself to the absolute limits of the human will. I thrive on doing what others simply aren't willing to do and going where others aren't willing to even attempt. Thus, I have decided to make a 180 degree turn in sports and try my hand at running the Badwater Ultramarathon course (that is 135 miles through Death Valley)!!! My plan was to do this on 7/27/07 but with the biz starting I am going to have to postpone this until July 2008. But because anyone can do it with that much time to prepare for it, I am going to postpone my training prep for it until October 2007 to give myself the 9 months that I initially had planned to have! Nonetheless, I want the ultimate test of will to determine (and prove) what I am truly made of. More exciting things going on in my life...I am also Co-Founder and Athletic Performance Director of Explosive Edge Athletics, which recently opened in the Twin Cities, MN!!!
When I Started Working Out
Age 12How I Started
My brother, who is a nationally ranked bench presser, got me started at a very early age. I haven't looked back since! Why I Love It
I am someone who loves to do the impossible and go further than anyone else is willing to go!How I Stay Motivated
think my motivation comes from my mentality. I thrive completely on going further both mentally and physically than others. Thus, my mentality is designed towards doing what others simply are not capable of. I remind myself of this nearly every waking moment of the day and it is mostly what drives me to attempt to get the most out of myself in the gym.My Worst Injury
Tore my right lateral quad at 7 weeks out from a show in 2004...went thru with the show anyway! See pics in gallery!
I Would Love To Meet
Serious athletes who are ready to do what it takes to push themselves to the next level! Contact me! I guarantee, that you will not be disappointed that you did. So no matter what your room for adaptation or current level is, if you have the desire, I will help enable you to go further than even you ever thought was possible.
Goals
Main Goal
To redefine the limits of the human spirit and will....Short Term Goal
Competing in the 2007 NPC Natural Classic on June 30th...have to do things a bit different this time around. I am NOT coming out of my retirement. However, I really want to do the routine that I had designed for the 2005 NPC Nationals...at a live show! Plus, I will do some "fitness" type photo shoots around that day.Long Term Goal
In July 2008, will be running the Badwater Ultramarathon course! 135 miles thru Death Valley! Jamo...we should film that thing!!!Bodyfat Goal
8-9%Weight Goal
205lb right nowFavorites
Bodyparts (Opposite Sex)
Heart and personality!!!
Bodyparts (Yours)
Most people have always talked about my legs from my bodybuilding days. Today, I don't really worry too much about how I look...as long as my diet stays clean, I stay fairly lean and look solidy all the way around.
Exercises
I hate all exercises equally =). But really, most of my clients are very competitive athletes, so I employ many explosive and ballistic movements for them. For my bodybuilders, stick with the basics done thru the Dorian style of training!
Healthy Foods
All I ate for years was chicken, rice, oatmeal and protein shakes. And that is really all that I still eat! However, now I do have cheat meals! Thank God for that!
Not So Healthy Foods
Oh yeah...on to the cheat foods! Love anything that I can get my hands on now on my cheat meal days! Eat up and enjoy...as long as you deserve it!
Supplements
The tried and true...MV/M, Vitamin C, B-Complex, Glucosamine, Creatine, Protein/MRs, UDO's Oil.
Hobbies
Dancing, texting (my friends say too much), reading poetry/quotes, chilling at the book store or library (I know, I am a huge dork), watching NFL football, research in the area of Plyometrics and Power Development, public speaking in the Strength & Conditioning industry, drinking fu-fu drinks, chilling with my peeps, and now that I am done bodybuilding...anything new and exciting! I never had the opportunity to travel when I was bodybuilding...so I am ready to see the world and experience new things all around!Magazines
I read mostly Strength & Conditioning Journals. Occasionally will read the muscle mags though.
Books
Way too many to list. However, my 'bible' is "A Warrior's Story" written by 6-Time Mr. Olympia, Dorian Yates.
Workout Music
Depends on the client...whatever motivates them! For me though, I listen to Pantera when I train…even though most times I don’t even hear the music at all. I just mainly use it to make sure I hear nothing else of what is going on around me and to deter all from getting in my way.
