When you decided to shift your lifestyle, how much did you weigh?
396 lbs - March 22, 2002.
Why did you decide to lose the weight?
For my kids. I wanted to be able to play with them without being tired. Also, to be able to function in life.
What did you have to sacrifice in order to reduce your weight?
A little bit of free time.
What did you have to let go of in order to maintain your commitment?
I let go of believing it was ok for me to weigh that much and that I was healthy at that weight.
What was the hardest part?
Not being able to eat like everyone else. I had special food and portion sizes. I wanted to be just like everyone else and eat whenever, whatever I wanted. Another difficult part was realizing I was the only one who could make these lifestyle changes. My friends and family couldn’t do this for me. At times they were supportive and at others, they were not. I had to continuously motivate myself to stay clear on what my goal was so I could go to the next level and be recharged for the next day.
Why do you want to share your experiences with others?
Because loosing weight is an unbelievable achievement. People think about it every day. Doors are now opened to me that I never dreamt possible. Being overweight comes with prejudices that didn't support me in creating what I want in my life.

Are you still eating and living a healthy lifestyle after this dramatic weight reduction?
Yes. I’ve learned to incorporate it into my life and each day provides an opportunity for me to recommit to my own personal success.
