A Little About Me

Hey there, my name is Mealii but everyone just calls me May. I'm Samoan/Caucasian and am the oldest of my five siblings (three sisters and two brothers)...I love big families! At age 4 I began Polynesian dancing for my uncle's group and have since become extremely passionate about the expression of my culture through the dance! (You can catch our group dancing in various venues in LA, Orange County, San Diego County, the Inland Empire and Las Vegas) I attended college at Cal State Long Beach and graduated with my BS in Health Care Administration. I now work as the Safety Consultant at an Orange County hospital. I love to travel and have been on amazing aventures to Japan, Korea, Canada, Puerto Rico, Italy, Tahiti, Mexico, various US states and always willing to pack my bags and go! I live a meaningful life; full of worthy friends that make me strive to be a better perseon. I don't lie or cheat my way through life; instead I work hard and take in "data" constantly. Life is so amazing, I don't want anything to pass me by...

When I Started Working Out

I've always been athletic; playing sports most of my life. But I don't think I started to actually train until about seven years ago. My training changed when I was diagnosed with Grave's Disease in 2005...now Jamo has helped me strengthen my core muscles with JamCore and I'm dieting with my Thyroid disease in mind!

How I Started

Being an athlete in High School we were required to lift weights. But I never took it seriously. I was always VERY thin. As you get older however, taking better care of your body becomes that much more important!

Why I Love It

I LOVE sweating!!!! Addicted to it! I'm not one of those girls that socializes and does one set of three exercises...NO WAY! I sweat it out!!! The more the better! I want to go home feeling like I accomplished something at the gym!

How I Stay Motivated

I set small goals for myself. I don't use the scale, I figure I know my body better than that thing does anyway. But I reach small achievable goals. Simple!!! Plus everyone wants to feel more compfortable naked!

My Worst Injury

I had a shattered cheek bone and particles of bone were enbedded into my jaw mucles; I had lock jaw! Immediate surgery and a few weeks to recover...no fun!

Healthy Foods

I love Salmon!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!! Broiled, grilled, poached, cajun style, raw or whatever.....I'll eat it, any time of the day! My absolute favorite!

Not So Healthy Foods

Ben & Jerry's Half Baked ice-cream is to die for! I crave that stuff....but the volcano cake at Mahe's is pretty amazing too! I don't eat a lot of sweets so when I do, it's heaven! Then back to clean eating before I balloon up! hehe...

Workout Music

I love listening to house/trance when doing cardio! I ride my cruiser to the beach often so when I hit those hills, I crank the house! But if I'm lifting at the gym, it's all about hip hop....something that makes me bob my head and make me want to break out with a dance move in between sets!
