- 1. What two words best describe your build/physique/figure? Why?
- Five years. Listen, I don't want to say, "Oh, I worked really hard on this body. I suffered. I didn't eat stuffed-crust meat lover's pizza. I never used any supplements, blah, blah, blah." I just persevered, studied nutrition, what to eat and read a lot of Men's Health magazine.
- 2. What part of your body deserves to be honored in the “Physique Hall of Fame?” Why?
- Jeez, I don't know how to answer that without sounding like a meathead. I guess my legs. Legs are really tough to work. It takes lots of stamina. See? Look. Yeah! Ha-ha.
- 3. When did you first realize your body was sexy, appealing or exemplary?
- I used to be overweight, but I didn't know I was overweight. I suppose I just assumed I would never get fat, but I did. Losing weight for me was only the beginning. I didn't know how to work out. I didn't even know the difference between a bench press and a "fly." I can't believe I know these things now. I don't consider myself "exemplary" or anything like that. I enjoy working out.
- 4. In the quiet moment before you begin a workout, what’s the first thing that goes through your mind? And what is the last thing that goes through your mind as you conclude a workout?
- There are days where I really doubt if I will get through a workout, especially the cardio part of it. I do cardio every single day – at least two miles. On those days, it is truly satisfaction. I actually feel relieved that I did go to the gym and didn't skip.
- 5. Who is your physique/fitness idol or role model, and what body part would you steal from that person for a day?
- Greg Avedon, the "Men's Health" guy. I hear he lives in Miami, but I have never met him. His technique really made an impression on me. I follow "Abs Diet" as a guide. It is the foundation for my grocery shopping.
- 6. Who or what inspires you to accept the daily challenge of building your physique/figure?
- I work at home, for eight years now. Working out keeps me focused. I honestly feel that if I didn't run or lift, there would be days that I would go nuts. Working for oneself isn't easy; it requires a tremendous amount of discipline. The gym keeps me in check.
- 7. If someone wrote a book or song about your body, what would it be called?
- Oh wow! Ha-ha. I definitely have never been asked that before! A book would be a cookbook/ I enjoy cooking and I think many people would, too, if they knew how simple it can be. The song is already written, it is "Cool Breeze" by Keith Andrew. It's just how I live my life.
- 8. Your name appears as an option on a restaurant menu, and you order the dish/beverage. What food/drink does the waiter deliver to your table?
- Pinto Chicken. Before I branched off into trying other things, there were steamed vegetables (an entire bag; six servings), six pieces of chicken tenderloins sautéed in mushrooms, green or red peppers, cilantro and tomatoes and a steamed sweet potato with the skin on (washed, of course). I ate that dish EVERYDAY! It took 12 minutes to prepare, so don't knock it.
- 9. What would a talking mirror say about your body if you stood naked in front of it?
- ”You ate pizza, didn't you?” No, seriously, I hope it would say, "Good job!" At the end of the day, when we know we worked hard, that's really all we are looking for, isn't it?… well, that and a paycheck!
- 10. If you received the ultimatum: workout or die— but your other favorite thing was simply too hard to resist— what is that one other thing you love (besides loved ones, family, friends, etc.) so much that you would actually choose it over your “final workout?”
- Taking photos. I love photographing people.
