- 1. What two words best describe your build/physique/figure? Why?
- Tall & Skinny. I work very hard for the smallest bump of a muscle. I have long limbs so I don’t gain muscle very easily – but at least I’m not a string bean anymore like I was growing up. I finally have some curves. ☺
- 2. What part of your body deserves to be honored in the “Physique Hall of Fame?” Why?
- I don’t think any of my body parts would get any honors unless it was a contest for the longest legs – then maybe I’d get some recognition. My husband seems to still be amazed at the length of my femurs!
- 3. When did you first realize your body was sexy, appealing or exemplary?
- The one thing I grew up hating was my height and my long, lanky legs. It wasn’t until college that I finally began to be OK with my body – and I still was insecure. At least by that time, guys finally caught up to me and I wasn’t taller than half my class.
- 4. In the quiet moment before you begin a workout, what’s the first thing that goes through your mind? And what is the last thing that goes through your mind as you conclude a workout?
- The first thing I say to myself is, “Gosh, I really don’t feel like working out.” The last thing I say (which I normally say out loud to my partner) is, “Yay! We’re done!”
Not everyone loves working out, but they can love the results of working out. That’s me. I don’t really love working out, but I love the way it makes me feel and look. That’s what keeps me going.
- 5. Who is your physique/fitness idol or role model, and what body part would you steal from that person for a day?
- I quit dreaming about looking like most of the top fitness models, because it just leaves me depressed and discouraged. I finally realized my goal should be to just improve what God gave me. My only real role model is my husband, not to sound corny - and not because I want his physique. I am inspired by his uncanny drive, patience, commitment and dedication. He constantly amazes me with his incredible discipline.
- 6. Who or what inspires you to accept the daily challenge of building your physique/figure?
- Like I said, mostly my husband. When you have a husband that looks that good, you better keep yourself looking pretty good if you want to keep his eyes on you! ☺ When I feel myself slipping away, all it normally takes is a good long look in a mirror with no clothes on, and I’m plenty inspired to hit the gym!
- 7. If someone wrote a book or song about your body, what would it be called?
- It would probably have to be a remix of ZZ Tops’ song “Legs!”
- 8. Your name appears as an option on a restaurant menu, and you order the dish/beverage. What food/drink does the waiter deliver to your table?
- Chips & Salsa. Anyone who knows me knows I’m all about the salty & spicy
- 9. What would a talking mirror say about your body if you stood naked in front of it?
- ”Stand up straight and suck in your tummy!”
- 10. If you received the ultimatum: workout or die— but your other favorite thing was simply too hard to resist— what is that one other thing you love (besides loved ones, family, friends, etc.) so much that you would actually choose it over your “final workout?”
- I’d choose anything over my final workout. I think dying is a fantastic excuse for skipping a workout, don’t you? (Sorry, fitness enthusiasts!) My first reaction would be to live it up and shop, but that would only be fun if you stayed alive long enough to enjoy the new goodies. So, I would probably go for a long motorcycle ride with my husband on a beautiful scenic road. That would give me time to think, pray and clear my head while enjoying the open air and taking in all of God’s magnificent creations. I’ve also always said I’d love to sing with Kirk Franklin and one of his choirs before I die. Whatever I did, I’d want to spend the time preparing for Heaven. I’m not sure what I’d really choose to do, but I guarantee there would be a lot of praying involved! ☺
