Box Med Ball Step-Ups/Overhead Press/Knee Up

Purpose:Develop strength of the legs, shoulders and core, as well as overall stability, balance and coordination.
Quantity:1 set x 8-10 reps each
Equipment:Med Ball and Plyometric Box

Coaching Points

  • Stand up straight in front of a plyometric box (11 inches high), holding a med ball at chest level.
  • Put your right foot on the box, making sure you are centered and balanced
  • Step up making sure to push from your heel, not your toe.
  • Lift your left leg until your thigh is parallel to the floor.
  • While balancing on your right leg, with your left leg elevated, press the med ball overhead.
  • Keep your chest up and back straight throughout as you lower the med ball and step back down to the start position.
  • Complete all reps for the right leg then switch to the left leg. Follow the same movements only step with the left leg and lift the right.

Very Important: Sit on the hip you are balancing on while pressing the med ball and keep that leg slightly bent.
