Motivation MOVES us when we MOVE towards motivation.

Seeing blessings with each sunset.

I am moved….to write this for motivation’s sake.

Sometimes I wonder how people see me. Not the outside me, but the inside me. Do they ever see that scared little girl that wants to go into a corner and cry? Do they ever notice the teenage side of me who feels lost and totally awkward at times? Do they see the woman I am, while not seeing the woman I want to become?

Trainer's Corner :: Pertinent Quotes

Hi Gang,

These quotes seemed pertinent for those in the resistance training, manual therapy fields. They keep me thinking, so I decided to share -G

Baby news....
Current mood: disappointed
Category: Writing and Poetry

Sometimes you just have to accept things and go on. I have avoided talking about this because it hurts. I wondered whether or not to blog this and decided it would be easier than answering all the emails when people keep asking when Kenny and I are getting our baby.

I am resolved to~~~~~~~~~~~

sassyonyx's picture

For my 2009, I am resolved to.....

1. I am resolved to focus on the good and not emphasize the bad.

2. I am resolved to be kinder in my actions, with my words, and my approach to others, as well as, myself.

3. I am resolved to love myself more, accepting the things I cannot change, while changing the things I can.

4. I am resolved to be a better wife and help mate, knowing a love like I am blessed with does not happen every day, but once in one's lifetime.

Someone's LISTENING

sassyonyx's picture

For all the words you do not speak,
write them down.
Silence and what we hear
in the silence
is often our greatest teacher.

It is said that in order to find solace
we must seek our haven
beyond
where we are standing
and
LISTEN
with our hearts.

YOUR silence
speaks
loudly to me.
It echoes
through my senses
commanding
my attention.

Be all that you can be
because
YOU CAN
and know you are heard
and someone's
LISTENING

Happy HOlidays to YOUR heart from MINE!

sassyonyx's picture
May all your days be filled with childlike faith and love!

I just wanted to tell you all Merry Christmas. I love you all! A special Merry Day to Jamo. You know this site means the world to me. Hugs to Mona, Bill, Steve, Will, Rachelle, Ravinous, and everyone else. Keep up the good work and know that even though I have been a little quiet lately, I think about you all often.

Remember the most important thing for the Spirit of Christmas is found within.
It doesn't matter what you believe, or who you believe in, what matters is that you BELIEVE.
And with that....may all your days be filled with LOVE, LAUGHTER, and HOPE.

Exercise Analysis: The Upright Row

Exercise Analysis: The Upright Row

This old-school exercise is the perfect example of one that has been handed down for generations having a high risk-to-benefit ratio where there are safer alternatives to train same the muscles supposedly being targeted. What is the goal of an upright row?

Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays everyone.
I have been so busy here lately that I haven't bogged that much. We had a historical snowfall for our area of the globe. We rarely get snow in our part of Texas. But on the 11th, we had about 2 inches here and as much as 4 inches in surrounding towns. I loved it for the school kids (and adults) that had never seen snow. The news media had a hay day with the weather reports. Funny, how snow in the south brings out the kid in all of us.

As of my last blog entry, admittedly a long time ago, I was weighing in at around 225-227 pounds. As of this morning, before hitting the gym, I logged in at 213 pounds. I owe a lot of my success to the exercise ideas and great recipes made available on this website.

Personal Trainer Licensing?!?

Thought this report was extremely interesting. IDEA sent a report on certain legistation attempts at licensing personal trainers and group fitness instructors in Washington DC and New Jersey.

Happy late Thanksgiving Day!

sassyonyx's picture

We went to see my mom and sister in Arkansas. Haven't seen them in 3 years. Kenny took Tonia, baby Rylee, and me up there. It was a good trip. We had lots of goodies to eat. Glad to say I only gained one pound. Got hives from the white chocolate and cheeses I knew i wasn't supposed to eat, but ah, well. Sometimes it is worth it.

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. I am all set on go for Christmas. Tree is up, presents bought, time to sit back and enjoy the hustle and bustle of everyone else. Kenny won't be home Christmas this year. He will be leaving for Angola, Africa the 10th.
