Surviving IKE
Posted September 19th, 2008 by tripletdadWell one blessing has obviously occurred I now have power and Internet. The last blog i made was during the storm at that moment it wasnt that bad. Unfortunately it got worse we had wind gusts in my area approaching 125 mph, my roof was damaged and we got lots of water in through the hole. No power here until today and were on generator power. FEMA and the National guard are stationed at the rodeo grounds across the street, its strange watching all the military people everywhere. Gas and food are hit and miss waited in line 3 hrs.
Big bad IKE
Posted September 13th, 2008 by tripletdadIt is midnight here and we are taking a pounding. Just recorded a gust of 100 in my area and the eye is still a couple of hours from landfall. The rain is pouring down and the wind is screaming. Galveston is underwater and flooding is widespread. So far all that has happened at my house is a tree is down in the backyard but otherwise we are good here. The trio are sleeping peacefully and the rest of my family are watching a movie ( we still have power but cable is out) and they are in all aspects the main thing to me, everything else is replaceable.
IKE

I would ask that you guys keep us in your thoughts its going to be a rough ride here this weekend. My prayers and thoughts go out to all the other folks about to be impacted by this hurricane.

What is wellness?
Posted June 18th, 2008 by tripletdadI came across this in a book I have been reading and wanted to share the definition. This will be a goal of mine to achieve. When I first read this it really made me pause and think. Enjoy:
Complete wellness is a lifestyle. It asks you to take responsibility for how you live and the choices you make. Wellness means taking an active role in improving every aspect of your life to achieve a productive, healthy lifestyle.
Big Week
Posted June 10th, 2008 by tripletdadHuge week for me and my wife we had the triplets graduate from kindergarten (what a ceremony!!) and our oldest daughter Ashleigh graduated a year early from high school. She is headed to UT and we couldn't be prouder of her and all the hard work she has put into her education.
Goals
Posted May 13th, 2008 by tripletdadI think this is probably an overlooked but very important part of not only a fitness or bodybuilding program but also for everyday life. i read once that without goals you were like a ship with no rudder just drifting with no direction. So lets hear how everyone sets up their goals short term, long term and not just for fitness but in life. Do you look at your goals each day do you keep them in journal?
Something new
Posted May 12th, 2008 by tripletdadTried something new in my shoulder routine this morning. It was an exercise i saw in a recent article that Arnold always used. You lie on your side on an incline bench and do side laterals. Very tough and really hit the side delt in a different way than normal laterals. Something i will continue to use in my routine. Try them out for yourself and see.
Dedication
Posted May 7th, 2008 by tripletdadI read a very good article in the latest MuscleMag this weekend and after some the recent blogs and my observations in the gym just wanted to share with the Tribe. The article was about how discipline and dedication are so important in bodybuilding what it really takes to make a bodybuilder. One thing ithat was stressed was that its not a pill or needle that makes a bodybuilder its discipline. No matter what pill you pop or needle in your ass, you still have to hit the gym regularly, make the right food choices and get plenty of sleep.
Get well soon
Posted April 7th, 2008 by tripletdadI would like everyone here to keep my daughter Shelby in their thoughts and prayers. She blew out her ankle playing softball and had surgery today to repair the damage. It was major surgery lasting over three hours in order to repair her ligaments and tendons. The doctor feels confident on a full recovery, but it will be a long, slow painful process. So keep her in your thoughts in prayers. thank you.

Farmers Walk
Posted March 11th, 2008 by tripletdadWanted to get some opinions on using this particular routine. the farmers walk is a strongman event in which the guy picks up a heavy weight in each hand and walks as far as possible before giving out. I read an article in Muscle & Fitness which talked about how effective this was in strength and cardio training. I then read a separate article which talked about the number of MMA fighters that used this in their training. I was just wondering what others thought of this and how best someone could put it to use in their own routine. Thanks.
