Sugar Alcohol?
Posted November 15th, 2007 by sumgai
Jamo, a well known online nutritionist/trainer warns people to stay away from supplements with sugar alcohol (which are commonly used as a replacement for sugar). What's the difference and what's the deal with all of these supplements using sugar alcohol if it's really not that healthy for us?
Thanks!

I know im not Jamo, but he hasnt responded yet.
I think there is more to sugar alcohol than that. I do know that is has long been associated with laxatives, usually for elderly. But because of its affect on blood sugar levels, it seems like a "healthier" alternative to using sugar in candy bars. From personal use, I cant eat a lot at all, because my stomach REALLY REALLY hurts afterwards. And i use the term "healthier" very loosely.

.....
sugar alcohols are put in supplements such as protein bars....to keep them soft...so you dont crack a tooth eating them...
if there wasnt sugar alcohols in them they would have to put more fat and sugar in them....
its a syrup kinda thing...
at least from what i understand, its just to soften the bars....to avoid more fat/sugars...
