Here's a very useful link about stretching that will help beginners and advanced too. It also includes warm up and cooling down routines , it is very important .

its advanced vocabulary for beginner.
i work with physical therapists and they employ a lot of PNF. they call it MRE... manually resisted exercise.. same idea though.
