My thing is this... I agree with doing your abs 2-3 times per week, but you have to work them in sections - upper-middle-lower-obligues. Then you work them each at least twice per week or according to your own needs. Here what I mean:

Day 1 - upper & lower one day
Day 2 - lower & obligues
Day 3 - upper & obligues

Personally, I do 3-4 sets of 12-15 each section. exhale on the squeeze & hold for a second for each rep. Also, remember that variety is the spice of life (if you like to feel the burn) lol

You also have to make sure that your metabolism is fast by eating as many as 6-9 small meals per day. If you set it up right, you can be consuming your planned number of calories per day, but in smaller portions. In addition, make sure you eat your complex carbs & that you get in at least 1g protein per pound body weight. If your metab. is already fairly fast, don't eat carbs after 3pm (some people stop at noon). GET IN YOUR FIBERS! & eat your salads. Take your multis too.

But to answer your question specifically...
Proteins - egg whites, chicken breasts, white meat fish, lentils
Carbs - brocolli, cauliflower, sweet potatoe, yams, brown rice, barley, oats
salads...

a favorite meal or two of mine:

Meal 1:
4-5 oz chicken
1/2 c Oatmeal w/splenda
2c Broccoli (steamed w/spices)

Meal 2:
SECRET RECIPE
5 oz Tuna
1 1/2 c Brown Rice + special chinese Hot chili sauce
2c Broccoli (steamed w/spices)

diets usually help. Also an effective workout plan helps. You might wanna workout your abs 2-3 times a week only. Doing 3 exercises each time you work them.
