Question on carbs
Posted August 7th, 2008 by DRod79
Ok, this is the question i have...when you say sugar can be stored as fat if not used, does that apply to any carbs including complex? How wouldn't it be stored as fat, when should you eat fruit. Say for instance I eat fruit on an off day where i don't train at all...WOuld that be bad. When is good times to eat carbs. Since in the video it said timing, but no 1 really addressed it.

well, basicly every basic
well, basicly every basic nutrient like protein, carbs and fats can be stored as bodyfat. You should not look at the kind of nutrients but the quantity of them. If you eat more calories in 1 day then you burn in 1 day, you will store bodyfat. If you eat less calories then you burn, you will lose weight/bodyfat.
But remember! eating more calories by doing it with protein can help you build more muscle mass then fat mass, meaning you will lower you bodyfat. However, if you eat more calories then you burn by eating to much carbs it is most likely that you will store more bodyfat then building muscle.
There are 2 kinds of carbs as you know, the simple and the complex kind. Basicly there is no difference as in the amount of calories they contain, but simple carbs have a greater influence on unsulin. Insulin is a human hormone that stores everything when triggered, the other one called HGH (human Growth Hormone) Is an hormone thats burn everything.
Simple carbs have a greater influence on your insullin levels, giving you a bigger insullin spike, meaning more of the calroies are being stored. Most likely to be as fat. Complex carbs have less influence on you insullin levels so they won't be stored as fat the easily.
You should eat carbs with every meal, except for the one you take right before going to bed. When you wake up, take some simple carbs, as well as some complex carbs and protein. Also a little bit of fats.
The rest of the day should consist of mostly complex carbs, though on training days you would want to add some simple carbs right after your workout to stimulate insullin to store everything. After your workout simple carbs can easily to be digested to refill your glucose levels in your muscles to stimulate recovery and also a lot of anabolic hormones will be pulled in your muscles because of the insillin spike.
Hope this is something you can understand lol, since i ain't very good a speaking english the formal way..
Good Luck!
