Loose skin / Stretch Marks?
Hi all, I am new to this forum, so let me start of by explaining my situation.
I am a male, 18 years old & about 6ft tall.
In November 2007 I turned 18, and decided that it was finally time to start losing some weight, I am about 6ft tall and have always had a fairly medium size build, when I started High School when I was about 11 years old, I started putting on some weight - in fat, being lazy it never really bothered me untill I was about 16 when I tried to lose it, I did a fairly good job but as soon as I stopped the diet it all came back on. Now at 18 years old I was 16stone8pounds, which, as you can tell, is a hell of a lot more that I should be. At the time I had a huge stomach, fat all around my body and my breast area made me look like I had boobs. I started running on and off, and then on December 20th I finally decided to start working out properly, I started eating less, running more & going to the gym.
Now, almost 2 months later I have lost almost 2 stone, making me 14stone11pounds, so in 2 months I have lost almost 2 stone, now, I am guessing that is a lot of weight to lose, maybe I should have lost it slower.
I still have man boobs and still have a fairly lot of weight around my stomach, I have increased in protein, and started eating healthier, drinking lots of water, and fairly confident withing another 2 months I will start to have a normal weight.
I have 3 main concerns:
When I eventually do start to lose more & more body fat, will I start to lose my man boobs?
When I lose more weight, will my stretch marks go away? They aren't too bad, just around the center of my stomach area and one or two around my man boobs area, what can I do to get rid of them other than lose weight?
When I do get a flat stomach, will I have lose skin? or will since I am only 18 my skin be okey?
I have looked at lots of weight training programs on this site and am interested in putting on some muscle when I lost more weight.
So to sum it up:
I am 18 years old and in the last two months have lost just under 2 stone, any tips regarding man boobs, stretch marks & lose skin appreciated.
Thank you for reading & any replies will be greatly appreciated.

My weight in pounds
Hey up! Thank you very much for your replies! :)
So my weight in pounds:
December 19th 2007 - 232 Pounds
February 15th 2008 - 207 Pounds
So a total of 25 Pounds lost so farr :). I still know that 207 pounds is very over weight, what is the average weight in pounds for someone who is 18 years old, and I have a fairly big build even without fat all over my body.
My diet today I had:
Breakfast: 2 Slices wholemeal toast - 8AM
Snack: Protein Shake - 11AM
Cardio: 3 Mile run in 25 Minutes - 12PM
After workout snack: Protein Shake - 12.30PM
Lunch: Protein Bar (Promax Diet bar) - 2PM
Gym: A few weights in the gym - 4PM
After workout snack: 30g Almonds - 5PM
Dinner: Oven chips & vegetarian burgers - 7PM
Cardio: 2Mile run in 18 Minutes - 8PM
After workout: Protein Shake - 8.30PM
So basically as you can see, I feel I have a fairly good idea as to what to eat however I am always looking for more advice, so any is welcome :)
My man boobs area seem to be geting stronger as I am adding more muscle to my pec area, so hopefully they should go if I carry on exercise & dieting they should go, but I am really starting to feel some muscle around my chest area. I have been watching many videos on this site for tips and am gonna start using more and more workouts from this site.
Thaaanks loads again, Ash :)
awesome
So as we can see here, it looks like you're on the right track as to what to eat. Sort of :).
All looks like healthier choices and thats awesome. Now we can teach you how "WHEN" you eat is just as important as "WHAT" you eat.
Before and after a workout, you want energy and a bit of protein to spare your muscles and prevent catabolism "just incase".
So that means no fat, as you need those calories to digest quickly. (again: No fat within 1 hour before and after a workout).
This means that if you choose lets say "oatmeal & chicken" to eat an hour 1/2 before your workout, that's fine because theres no fat in that. Even the few grams that oatmeal and chicken have, we're not concerned with that. We just dont want you eating peanutbutter 30 minutes before you workout, or directly after (much like your almonds). But thats fine its not going to kill you, its very healthy choice, just not the best timing, but thats why you're here to learn. We should work on your weight training routine as that is by far the most important thing next to nutrition. I would actually say they're equally important :D
100% Diet 100% Training 100% Rest. :)
Here's a great meal plan to start with. You will want to start your calories around 2500-3000 and see how that works for you. We cannot have you falling into the "STARVING" zone for calories. Youre going to have to just trust us on this one and watch the awesome results speak for themselves. Days you dont train, eat a little bit lighter (around the 2500 range).
Meal1
1 cup oatmeal (dry weight )
6 egg white
1 cup of strwberries
Meal 2

2 scoops Protein shake(pure whey in water )
Meal 3

6 oz of brown rice
broccoli
1 apple
Meal4
Piece of medium fruit OR small handful nuts
2 scoops protein shake with water
Meal 5
6 oz of Chicken or fish or shrimp

Also..
As far as the "man boobs" you're talking about... There was this kid in high school that had the same problem. He even lost a lot of weight and was a normal size but stillhad them and eventually had to get surgery to get them removed. Apparently it was something beyond his control. I dont know if it was estrogen or if perhaps he had been taking steriods or something, but regardless, he could not lose them through exercise.
So the best thing to tell you is that only time will tell. Keep on exercising and if you keep losing fat from your chest then thats good.
hey buddy
welcome to MFT
:D
Lets address one issue at a time, and the rest will fall into place.
Ready? ALright! Lets go :)
The most likely reason you lost weight and had lots of loose skin the first time when you were about 16 I believe, is because you lost weight in an unhealthy manner. It came off so fast that your skin did not have time to adjust. You lost a lot of muscle tissue and other important tissues and possible bone density. You basically ate so few calories to get that weight off so fast. My buddy practically starved himself, not that he did it on purpose, and you may not have either, but following fad diets is the reason they work, they're so few calories they provide almost no chance of failure if followed correctly.
So as a successful plan of attack this time around, lets focus on changing your lifestyle because this is also why you gained the weight back. This time around you will lose the weight more slowly, and add muscle strength and endurance, as well as size eventually if you would like to make that a goal. Either way, the more muscle mass you have the better you are able to lose bodyfat, directly and indirectly.
Lets focus on how much you weigh... Im not sure what stones are, but what is your weight in kg if you live in europe, etc. or lbs if you are in america?
We will start by changing your diet slowly. Slowly weed out the unhealthy junk food. For the first week, you must limit yourself to as little as possible. Cold turkey might send you back to a relapse, so I owuld suggest two meals a week, or three that is better. The next week, make it one meal a week. Then eventually you will learn to turn those meals into healthy options and then you can limit to once every other week, then hopefully none :).
Lets get your caloric range to help you and so as well to help us devise a plan of attack for your diet.
What does your training look like now? I would suggest starting with the JamCore Training beginners workout. Very excellent workout and provides a great base to build off of. As well as vitally important stretching (dynamic and some static) that many people make the mistake of not incorporating into their workouts until its too late and they end up with back injuries due to tight hamstrings and hip muscles, or other injuries related to tight muscles or torn because of improper ability to warm the tissue (warmup) before "working out".
Ok thats enough for now, i dont want your head to spin :)
Welcome again :D And we'll continue to keep you updated. While you waitt for me to reply to your next post, check out the nutrition videos on Carbs, Fats and proteins (as well as liquids) in the videos section.

Also
I feel that as I am loseing more weight I am getting more stretch marks around my body, they are reddish in colour so are fairly new, what can I do to get rid of them?
Thanks
....
you cant get rid of them unless you're willing to do laser treatment...
there is a way of getting the collagen back....stretch marks are areas in the skin where the collagen is gone or very bruised.
the laser surgery makes the skin produce new collagen and hopefully that will recover some of it...

btw...all the lotions etc that says on labels they remove stretch marks, its bull...it dont go that far down in the skin and lotions cant do it for ya...
