robbieg22's picture

Hi Guys, I have been working out for about 10 plus years now, more seriously for about 6 years and still going strong. I exercise 6 days a week weights and Cardio 4 times a week. I eat 6 times a day high protein, medium carbs I always make eating number one in my day. I take protein powder daily, multi vitamins, other than that no other supplements. My weight program are pretty intense, I try and push my self so that my routines are not stagnating. Any help out there? If i did not provide enough details let me know.

First off, if you realy

First off,

if you realy want to get bigger. Stop your cardiovascular activity.. this will most likely be the factor that is slowing down your growth. If you want to keep your fat% low, while maintaining endurance, do it for 2 a week tops. for maximum of 20 minutes high intensity, after your weight training.

Second, i agree with Stevers, 6 days a week might be to much. Lower it to 5 days a week, and make a good split-routine, in which all of your muscles have enough time to recover..

This is the first step to get growing again. Also, how long have you been following the same routine? Changing it every 6-8 weeks makes sure your body will not get used to the routine and this changing the routine will make the body respond to your training again. You can do this by changing the number of reps/set per exercise, changing the order of the exercices, add/removing exercices or making a complete new routine. Also you might try some advanced training techniques (see my blog).

You say you eat high protein, this is good, but remember.. if you want to gain mass you will also need a good amount of carbohydrates. Carbs help recover your muscles after weight training. Also try to eat 60-80 grams of simple carbohydrates right after your weight training to stimulate Insulin to pomp your muscles full of the carbs, protein and anabolic hormones (such as testosteron and growth hormones).

You say your workout is stagnating, maybe its time to use something that could help this out. I once had the same problem with my workout, i could get past 72 Kg.. lol i know it ain't much.. but anyway, then i first tried creatine it helped me to grow to 78 Kg, including the water retenstion of course, and i lowered again to 76 Kg, meaning i gained 4 kg. Also the weights i used when training increased a lot. I used to got stuck on benching 55 Kg, now i can bench 80 kg for about 6-8 reps, also a great increase..

Oh, and don't depend on your protein powder alone to help you get your daily protein intake.. its more important to eat normal food.. all suplements should be used only to add them to your daily eating routine.. not replace it. Also, mif you wish to gain mass you might want to change the protein powder for a good weight gainer. This should be able to give you some extra carbohydrates, and when you have a good one also give you (almost) the same amount of whey protein..

Good luck!
