Bodyweight Exercises

After doing a fair bit of research on exercise and body building in general, I have become interested in "bodyweight exercises"
Does anyone know anything about them?

Welcome to Calisthenics. Enjoy your stay:

Calisthenics:
–noun
1. (used with a plural verb) gymnastic exercises designed to develop physical health and vigor, usually performed with little or no special apparatus (no weights)
2. (used with a singular verb) the art, practice, or a session of such exercises.

This is the most inspiring calisthenics stuff to look at IMO:

my own body weight in many exercises. like with hanging leg raises with legs bent or straight, with bench dips, or floor exercises pelvic/hip thrusts.....and on and on.
Look through some of the video icons and don't limit yourself to just the GUY stuff....we GALS have ways of illustrating too.

Another thing is check our Clark' Bartram's video blog on the VEGAS STRAPS! Think it is called TWO MINUTE ABS.
They are kick ass worth the money! And the exercises are with your own body weight.. I bought a set (you will see my comments there) and it comes with a book with different stuff to use them for. Really awesome. Just watch the video.

maybe you can paste this into your browser....don't know how to do all that yet.

okay, ttyl, Teri

When everything is said and done, be sure more is done than said.

By bodyweight i guess it

By bodyweight i guess it means using youer own body as resistance..

Stuf like push ups, sit ups and squats without weights i guess. Though i must say i don´t think they will do you much good for building muscle. Building muscle requires quite a low amount of repetitions (8-12) and high resistance. And because most people who just came out of middle school can do like 15 push ups, no problem, i would not recommand them for gaining mass.

However, doing these exercices may help you to get more defined muscles when done in higher amount of reps..

Good Luck!

yeah but if you can do 300+

yeah but if you can do 300+ pushups nonstop, thats a totally different story. Never underestimate extremely high reps for strength.

Yeah

Sort of.

I'm thinking more extreme like pull-ups, dips, push-ups, handstands, etc.

If you do 15-20 reps 2sec up 2 sec down push-ups you can get a really good chest workout. Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S990kHLMVFg

This guy is great.

Hi guys, I'm new here but

Hi guys,
I'm new here but thought you might want to look into crossfit, as they're pretty big into bodyweight exercises.
