Bodybuilding and martial arts go hand in hand !
While bodybuilding will make you stronger, the martial arts will keep you more flexible, faster, work your cardio-fitness and enable you to defend yourself. It is the perfect combination .
If you practise bodybuilding with martial art you gonna be :
- more athletic, with a low bodyfat so you gonna be faster more comfortable in your body.
but you have to absolutely work martial art (punches, kicks ...) if you work just bodybuilding even if you
have a low bodyfat you wont be faster... Be faster its not only because you are in a good shape but
because you often work punches or kicks thats why it s important to work bodybuilding and martial art.
- more muscular so you will be able to kick or punch stronger, but its the same think if you just work martial
art step by step you will be faster but if in addition you practise bodybuilding ... wow you will kick ass like
Jean Claude hahaha... and on the contrary if you just work bodybuilding your muscles will be very big but
very slow ...
- more flexible , but but but you have to do flexibility exercice with your martial art session or your workout
session if you dont do that you will be stronger, faster, but not flexible !
in conclusion practise bodybuilding with martial art can make the difference in a fight....

Martial arts + bodybuilding
Martial arts + bodybuilding is like the ultimate. I've seen these huge dudes with big muscles who are totally rigid and inflexible. Add martial arts to that and I think it makes the whole package so much better.
In reverse, adding bodybuilding to martial arts definitely is not a negative :) When I first started with a MA, I didn't realize how much it would have benefited me to do weight lifting. I was certainly getting a lot of cardio, and we did do some resistance training, but weights would have been icing on the cake and I think my strength woul have improved and body fat would have gone down significantly. I also didn't know how to eat right. :) I know so much more now, I wish I could go back in time and kick myself in the head!
Cool!
Thanks Greg, I agree - bodybuilding in combination with martial arts is a perfect combination!
Great post Greg I agree
Great post Greg I agree 100%. Perfect technique and form in your strikes will be powerful, however weightlifting will dramatically increase that power. Even in ancient times in Japan and China martial artists did some type of crude weightlifting i,e stones, buckets of water etc. I believe that Bruce Lee was the first to really push the bodybuilding martial arts connection. And would anyone really have wanted to meet Bruce in a dark alley?
Body Building in addition to M.A
I think Body Building is the Best complement to martial art, but Martial artists have not to focus only on Mass and strength but on explosive power. We don't care about the size but about increasing Muscle Skills in order to punch and Kick harder and Faster. Some people who still live in the middle Age (lool) Believe that Body Building would make You Slow and unflexible. These Guys are wrong ! Look at Martial arts champions , they are all on weightlifting.....So guys Go on the dumbells but don't Forget Your martial arts training!!!!
C ya
