you can't lose fat and build muscle at the same time..
why?
For loseing fat you will have to burn more calories then you gain by eating.. and if you eat less then you burn your body doesnn't even have the required energie to build muscle.. To gain muscle your body needs to gain more calories then you burn.. otherwise there are no calories of which your body can make muscle mass.. this is why bodybuilding are bulking and cutting
My advice.. Bulk in the autumn and winter and start cutting around february or march.. who need an 6pack in the winter when no-one can see it? i don't say you should eat everything.. just don't let your bodyfat get higher then 17% or so when bulking.. and when you are cutting get it down to whatever % you like..

its not strictily true that you cant build and burn at the same time, you can but you have to be extremely spot on with all aspects of your training and lifestyle ie training/diet/hydration/sleep etc. I think for most its like trying to fly a fighter plane when you dont even know how to fly a kite and leaves you destined to failure
However, what you can easily do is add the muscle slowly and sustainably, obviously your weight will go up with the muscle added. The best approach for this is to increase the calories by 200 a day every fortnight that way you can easily trim it back if yuo do add a little extra fat. You will still make good gains though as anything in excess of where you are now if matched by your training will mean increase in mass.(you see so many whop the calories right up by unrealistic amounts and wonder why they suddenly have fat muscle!)
