Barbells or Dumbells

I was just wondering on what kind of bar people preferred using i much prefer dumbells i would rather do dumbell press for my chest then bench press and all other excercies

If I had enough money, I
If I had enough money, I would go buy some of those PowerBlocks or something similar and leave my barbells to collect dust (for the most part).
I really do believe that dumbbell training gives you more strength by training supporting muscles.
On the other hand, theres only so much weight that you can use with adjustable dumbbells at home as opposed to barbells. Once you get up to 200+ lbs for an exercise, you either need a complete set of dumbbells like at a gym, or you need a barbell. Of course, if you belong to a gym that has a complete set of dumbbells that has dumbbell wieghts that are sky high, then TRAIN WITH DUMBBELLS EVERY CHANCE YOU GET.
(fyi it is spelled dumbbells, not dumbells. The reason for this is that in Tudor, England athletes would use church bells as weights to train with. However, they would take out the inner part of the bell - the clampers - to make the bells not make any noise. Hence dumb, as in muted or soundless, and bells as in church bells. The shape changed, but the name stayed the same...theres your history lesson for the day)
edit: I thought I would make this already long post even longer (I seem to be good at that) by adding in a little excerpt from an article that Jamo himself was interviewed in a few years ago (it was Muscle & Fitness Magazine):
“I truly believe that I’ve got more out of working with free weights than machines,” states Jamo. “When you use free weights, you use more muscle fibres — it’s harder on the tissue. You look harder on stage and achieve that granite look [judges reward].”
The man speaks from experience. In 1999, when Jamo earned his pro card, he switched to free weights almost exclusively and put on 10 pounds of muscle between January and October. “I was doing all the exercises people hate, like squats and deadlifts,” he says, nodding toward the weight room. “But trust me, if you stick to free weights, you will get the best physique you can.”
Both.
I incorporate a variety of exercises that consist of both barbell and dumbell usage for all bodyparts.
I will start with the barbell exercises though, because they tend to be better for strength and power, I like to use dumbells when I want to isolate my body more.
