Brian has been a personal trainer at a number of health clubs and fitness facilities, including Bally Total Fitness, The Minneapolis Lifetime Athletic Club, the YWCA, and World Gym. He has also designed exercise programs for a variety of athletes in a wide range of sports and athletic events.
Brian has a strong clinical nutrition background, having worked in many hospitals and clinics in the Twin Cities area. He was also lead dietitian at the prestigious Canyon Ranch Spa Club inside The Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. He held two adjunct teaching positions, one with the University of Minnesota and the other with the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and was recently appointed an adjunct faculty member in the School of Health Sciences at Kaplan University. He has been a nutrition adviser to TEAM DIABETES and CBS News and has been quoted in numerous magazines and websites including U.S. News & World Report, The New York Times, and Weightwatchers.com. He has written many articles for the popular press and is currently a contributor to FitnessRx for Women and Life Extension Magazine. He is also an advisory board member for Maximum Fitness Magazine and Insulite Laboratories, a company committed to preventing insulin resistance and its associated cluster of diseases.
Now focusing on sports nutrition, Brian works with golfers, mixed martial artists, boxers and endurance athletes, and currently consults with the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA and the Detroit Tigers of MLB. He also works with numerous NHL and NFL players, and is continually formulating new relationships in the sports world. Brian is an active member of the American Dietetic Association (ADA), the Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Dietitians (SCAN), the Nutrition in Complementary Care practice group (NCC), the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN), and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is also on the test writing committee for the National Board Certification in Sports Dietetics Examination. Brian spends his free time playing with his two daughters and hanging out with his wife of 6 years. He also enjoys running, strength training, tennis, basketball and really any other competitive activity.
