Morning temperature

I have recently been working with someone to help me with my diet. I have, as many know, Hypothyroidism. I have a very tough time losing that extra layer of fat from my abs downward. So anyway, I was told to take my temperature first thing in the morning before I even get out of bed. Does anyone know why this would be needed ?

By the way, the last two days it has been 97.2, and 96.7. That would be using a digital thermometer, and under the tongue.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I have a buddy that has a problem with his thyroid, I am not sure what it is, but instead of the 98.6 that our bodies are supposed to run at, his runs at about 99.0, and he is ALWAYS under 10 percent BF. I started wearing around light jackets in the summer and sleeping in sweats so that i always am just a little bit warm, as it speeds up your metabolic rate. ....seems to work pretty good for me, and i take my temp and it is always just a little bit warm...I think the reason for you taking your temp is to see where your metabolic rate is at and what temperature your body is operating at.

I could be wrong, so take it with a grain of salt but that is my two cents bro.

my thoughts exactly...

I was thinking the same thing, but I would have thought that it might be needed throughout the day as well.

I think that first thing in the morning would be the most accurate reading, I heard you need to take the reading before you even step one foot out of bed !
