Tough time cutting cardio....
I am having such a hard time not getting out on the bike trails with the bike or hitting the stairmaster as I once was all the time. The show is not for about 8 months. The hard part of it all is losing sight of the abs that I have just began to see. I have always used that as a sign of accomplishment. If I quit the cardio, and keep eating like I have been, I picture myself losing the abs, therefore taking a step back. The trainers I have are a great bunch of people, that keep motivating me, and reminding me of the long term goal of the show. They keep telling me that I don't want to peak to soon, and try to maintain my current fat percentage of 8-9, and not to try to go any lower until a 3-4 months out. Easier said then done!!!! But I am trying.

Hey Greg, You need to chill
Hey Greg, You need to chill mate, 8 months to prepare? dude, don't worry about not seeing abs at 8 months out! There is some truth to peaking to soon. You hit the condition you need to be in 2 weeks maybe a month to early then you'll really need to worry about losing it. It's your first show and I understand why you wanna 'hit it' first time out.
From your photo's you don't look 'off season' to me. You most certainly aren't lee priest off season. You need 16 weeks tops. If you are hitting it hard like you're getting ready for a show which is like 12 weeks away when in reality its 8 months away you won't be able to keep up the momentum. Like Jamo said, take a step back. If you miss a cardio session or weights session or deviate from your diet for whatever reason, don't make it so hard on yourself mate. Like any competing bodybuilder, start getting serious 12-16 weeks out, not before. 8 months is long time to be hard on yourself.
Enjoy what you're doing. If you don't enjoy the experience then what are you doing it for?
I mean all this with the upmost respect. I've been there a few times.
Good luck dude.
I be chillin'
Thanks for taking time out to send some words of wisdom my way. I am chillin now. Just going to go lift heavy, get my sleep, and eat me some good clean food. Just filled my chest freezer, so I have some food to eat for AWHILE.
You putting ..
.too much pressure on you brother , you need to chill . Goals are accomplished if you smart about the way you handle them . The show is 8 months from now who cares what your abs look like now . You need to focus on training and eat clean and worry about that later . Keep your cardio and structure yourself . I mean write down what you eat , how much your weigh ect ect .. Keeping a dairy will help you a lot ! ARE YOU DOING THIS ?
I am...
I am recording everything I eat. I don't always weigh myself. I usually only weigh myself about once a week if not every other. I try to measure my waist though much more often.
Again ..
The show is 8 months away . You have plenty time , you panicking for nothing . You will drive yourself crazy and you won't enjoy the process ..It's happening already !
OK!! OK!!
Train, Eat, Recover, and Blog..and repeat. LOL..
A few Deep Breathes and now..
The mind is clear of all worries.
