I'm 17 years old and the thought of taking steroids at this age is ... its stupid. My hormones are already pretty high, and my body is always changing. if i go on a low carb diet for 2 - 3 weeks I'll show abs... if i go on a high carb diet for 2 - 3 weeks I'll gain a lot of weight. I'm at the ideal age where i can really use my natural hormones properly to see amazing results. However, steroids at 60 to stay young...? well i haven't really thought about that seeing how i have about another 40 years before I reach the age of 60, but if it prevents negative things that could happen to the body... than why not?
Anything in access is bad for you. To many cookies everyday will make you fat. When you are fat you have bad health / more health problems than someone who is in shape (most of the time)
Think about this... on the news you never hear about people taking steroids and getting nothing but positive things from them... the news only shows / tells people what the negative side affects are of taking steroids.
On the news, you never have a reporter standing on the side of the street saying "these cars are driving very safe and they are obeying all the driving rules. we should all applaud for these safe drivers and honor them..." No, we never see that. But what we do see on the news is a reporter standing on the side of the street saying "these 2 cars were racing and crashed into each other. Both of the drivers were rushed to the hospital and are currently in critical condition. Please remember to drive safe and responsibly so this doesn't happen to you..."

Again, i dont think any one should buy steroids from 'Joe Shmo' at the gym or from someone who claims they have good legit steroids. If any one is willing / wanting to take steroids I suggest talking to your doctor about it. Express to him why you want to take steroids, and ask him for advice about taking it. Such advice can be: should i take it? If so, how often should i take it? Will you supply me with needles? What type of steroids do you think i should take to reach my goal? AND FINALLY, IS THERE AN ALTERNATIVE.

everyone please be safe. Make sure to have your diet and training down to perfection before even considering supptlments or steroids. Those 2 things are the key. And don't think that taking a cycle of test or d-bol will make you like people you see on this website, at bodybuilding shows, or even in magazines. You never know what those people are doing and you never know what they looked like without the use of drugs... (even if they used drugs..)

best of luck to everyone.
I'm signing out for now
have a blessed evening

Firstly all negative side effects are totally overstated, I'm not saying that taking 5 Anadrol a day for a year wont be harmful, but then you wouldn't drink a bottle of tequila a day for a year either, without harmful side effects, it probably doesn't stop you from having a glass of wine now and then. However what a lot of people are not quite yet comprehending about the use of steroids, and other compounds, is the incredible anti-aging capacity of theses compounds. There are way too many awesome bodybuilders in there 50's and 60's who have incredible physiques, and seem to have defied the aging process, I live in South Africa, where Gary Strydom was born, and he arrived this week for a short stay to do some seminars, and market his supplement line. Now if any of you have been in bodybuilding for 20 years or more, you will know who he is, if he competed in the Mr Olympia with this kind of mass in 1990, he would have walked the O hands down, he's weighing 140kg at around 6% body fat, and he's 49 years old, has anyone seen the pics of Robby Robinson training with Chris Cormier, Robby looks incredible, and hes 62 years old, anyone know Christa Bauch, she was born in 1949, check out her website www.christabauch.de, all these people have one thing in common, they have all taken gear for the last 20-30 years, and personally, I'd rather take my chances with steroids, and look great, than take my chances with cortisol, and look like shit, and die too soon. The human body is far from perfect, the attributes the human body has, is merely the systems that allowed it to survive certain cataclysms over the last 100000 years, animals born with truncated myostatin genes live just as long as there contemporaries even though they have the side effect of double muscling, its time you people get out there and do some research, and stop being such a bunch of puritans, science allows us to push all sorts of boundaries, don't run from it, embrace it. If you were HIV positive, but could take a drug which would extend your life, and keep you healthy would you take it, even if it had a few minor side effects? Of course you would, except if you're a Jehovah's Witness, but that's no different from your current dilemma, as you are terminal anyway, so take the plunge.

i think that steriods are fine , they are not dangerous , as is with everything else .............. IF YOU TAKE THEM IN MODERATION , people have been on steriods there whole life and there is nothing wrong with them , we are only exposed ( through the media ) to the absoloute morons that ABUSE steriods and take way more than the recomended dosages , if steriods were bad or dangerous for you then why to doctors give them to there patients ????????? .......EXACTLY , i think they would probably be fine if you used them safely and in moderation ie not abuseing them , BUT i personally will never in a million years take them because i want to push my self to the absoloute physical limit with out the helping hand of steriods because i believe the sense of achievement from getting to 230lbs using steriods would be pretty shitty . but WHEN i get to 230lbs naturally i will feel so much better !!!! thanks ;)

I believe that people are always looking for a quick fix to things in life but working out and sculpting your body to its best potential isnt such a quick fix.. it takes time, dedication, hard work, proper diet/nutrition, exercise, education, and more.. Its not going to help you by just taking steroids. Steroids do speed up the process but comes with the risk of some nasty side effects, cost, and uneven growth. I never used steroids in my life and was able to acheive all sizes and shapes. I was able to bulk up, maintain, or get shredded! Its all possible with the right balance of exercise, diet, supplements, and rest. Be patient, work hard, and avoid the juice! Its like renting a body... wouldnt you rather wait a bit longer and keep it forever!?

:) i love these

Vesela Marinova's picture

:) i love these controversial issues!! i could go on all day but to keep it simple.....steroids are a very small problem (when misused) when it comes to people's health. have you guys looked at the side effects of alcohol, smoking, o ya and my favorite the DOCTOR prescribed and supposedly monitored "pain killers", muscle relaxers, sleeping pills, etc. those are all way up higher on major side effects, addiction, and bad health! but since it's "legal" no one even cares to look right?--i guess this is for my next blog lol

Just curious what supplements you're taking?

Look at almost all supplements on the market!! 90% of them contain artificial pro hormones......even when not listed. How else are they giving us the effects they are!

Not to mention the "legal" pro hormones out there that contain the same ingredients and hormones as steroids (since that's what roids are made off)

Like i said before. Women use steroids every day in the form of birth control. Doctors treat a bad knee w/ roids (cortison). You can buy "pro hormones" or "legal" steroids even on the internet (ex. Primabol) o ya and AIDS patients survive because of steroids such as Anavar.,,,o and not to mention that doctors give cancer patients testosterone to speed up production of baby red blood cells.......to name a few.

I'm NOT encouraging anyone to take anything to mold their bodies! I think that your body has the ability to remold itself tremendously with the proper training and nutrition as far as your genetic makeup allows it to.......however, at the same time it gets under my skin when some people choose to downgrade others (that use enhancers) saying that since it's not "natural" it's easier or that it won't last or that it's more dangerous. Our excistance is science based, it's all chemistry!

People that chose to do them for the "vanity" reason overdue it and experience the bad side effects we all discuss. also, people that do it and have no clue what they're doing cause the "bad" experience as well. however, there are plenty of people out there that read this and may want the extra "Kick" or are just simply curious and determined to try regardless of anyone says...or they may even what to follow in the footsteps of their heros: bodybuilders, football players, movie starts...and even comic book heroes. i don't think that we should condemn people for it. i think we should educate, provide science based knowledge, etc. in order to minimize the misuse and side effects. from then on it's a person's free will ya know.

Reality is our society is very visual and very much influenced by a "fit" good looking physique.....it's sad, but that's how things are. Most of the people out there that you and i even look up to have done something at some point in their life to enhance their physique.....wether they admit it or not.

Be patient.....YES it takes time....most of us have been working out for over a decade......work hard....absolutely!!! it's all about knowing your body and how it responds to the art and science of training and nutrition........but if for some reason you're stuck on trying the "juice" lol do your homework.....research....read.....learn.......and make an educated decision......what's worth it and what isn't?!

no one can give you the answer but you :)

~Ves~

I know that personally...

Mike Arnesen's picture

...I would never use them, but I'm not so sure what I think about it in general. As a rule of thumb, I try not to judge people for their personal choices and abuse is never a good thing. So in moderation? Probably not as terrible as a lot of other things. I used to be firmly against all steroid use, but after hearing about your side of the argument for a weekend, it doesn't bother me as much. :)

Lifting to me is about using

Kevin Lakhani's picture

Lifting to me is about using my body and mind to overcome the most challenging physical feats I have undertaken, coming out on top, and then raising the bar. I like the extreme challenge, I like the slow progression, I like the pain....because it makes victory that much better. What good is getting huge or getting strong if it doesn't mean that I challenged myself day in and day out to get there?

I'm NOT saying that its super easy even for steroid users to get bodies like Ronnie Coleman, I'm just saying that its easier and quicker and therefore makes the final product not as valuable.

roids

I think steroids are okay if you are being supervised by a physician and if you run blood tests frequently to check your triglycerides and enzyme levels, but not many people do that. I think if you want to become an IFBB pro bodybuilder and compete on the olympia stage you may have no choice but do use them. If you are an average joe at your local gym then you should just stick the the natural supplements like protein, creatine, and glutamine. Results will come......you just have be intense....intensity in training, nutrition, and intense mindset to succeed. I believe bodybuilding is not a talent sport, but it is really an experience sport. The more knowledge you have, the better results you achieve. God bless

Here's my input...

Ravinous's picture

In general, people have to be careful about what they put into their bodies. I mean, does it really make sense trying to live a so-called healthy lifestyle where you make the extra effort to be discliplined about following a proper diet/nutrition & exercise, then turn around & destroy your system with steroids? Of course not! But what people don't realize, especially with the sups found on shelves all over the place these days, is that steroids wear a mask. That's right! I've found that alot of the ingredients in some sups are called all sorts of things to hide the fact that they are what they are... steroids.

People who are curious & take the time to educate themselves on this subject would know that there are many different types of steroids that serve specific purposes. And everyone knows that there's a difference between using & abusing drugs.

So, with all that said, I go back to the first point I made. Why would you knowingly use something that can, & will, potentially kill you so you can have what you think is an edge over everyone else "right now"? What about later? Not satisfied with that? Ok, then ask yourselves if steroid use (alot of it or a little) is living the healthy lifestyle you really thought it would be...

kunoichiforGod's picture

Not for me at all, period. Why was it even created in the first place if it has all this side effects? Flat out ridiculous as to why people would use this.

hmmm...

Romah's picture

well..my opinion....
i'd never even consider roids...i've been offered many times and i refuse...
i think its cheating and i think its just too bad that some people ruins the fun and the challenge competing when most people work hard to reach thier goals..wanting to win competition the natural way...and a cheater wins...that could frost my shorts!! lol...

of course there is some people that say that they just cant get big without roids, i dont know much about roids other than the fact that the side effects are nasty...
in a way i can understand if some people tried hard to get big and cant cause they are just not gifted, but in the other hand i dont know enough about it to say that i can understand thier problem, as i dont know if roids would make a difference, or if they just didnt try hard enough...i dont know...but roids are a fast way out and too risky in my opinion...

i'd never take it myself, cause im not willing to risk my health and im not a cheater...
i think where theres a will theres a way, and if you cant think further than to roids, then i think its the wrong hobby that you got yourself into..cause it kills you...and no hobby is worth your life...

again, i dont know much about these kinds of drugs, so i cant really post my opinion, cause im not sure of my exact opinion as i simply dont know enough, but the little i do know, is enough to make me stay away from it and never recommend it to anybody...

good that we can talk and learn about any issue/subject! NO SUBJECTS are OUT OF BOUNDS. Thanks for posting the blog. I hope the members here on MTF will find all the information they need to make the best choices for their individual fitness goals...be it suppliments, diets, exercise or whatever. Knowledge is POWER!

Yes it is! & sometimes

Ves's picture

Yes it is! & sometimes people need the "behind the reasoning" of why something is good or bad or not what they need....it's important to provide that education or even if it's just someone's point of view...it still needs to be backed up by research or personal experience or any other way to reason why things are the way they are.....id like to think that that is what we offer here at MFT & that is what separates us from all 0thers out there!!~Ves~

ok...ok....i put this blog

Ves's picture

ok...ok....i put this blog here on purpose.....there are a lot of ppl out there w/ the idea that roids will help them get where they need to get. ...or even think that certain ones will help w/ recovery (ex: HGH for an injury).....and with all the roid news covered these days and esp. w/ the wrestler who killed his family (they're saying due to roids)....I want too see the opinion of people........SO DONT BITE MY HEAD OFF THANK YOU!

This is not just a site to cover the "happy" ways of training, reality is that this stuff is out there & people get caught up in the use/illusion/or whatever you wanna call it...of roids & other supplements weather they 're over the counter or illegal. I think it's important to discuss this ang give answers that will encourage ppl to keep a clean healthy training & nutrition system to achieve their goals.........SO if you're going to give your oppinion or respond to this blog....make it educational and back up ur oppinion in order for others that may not be as EDUCATED to read and understand what is going on.........Get the point?!
~Ves~

I could

not agree more Ves. As members of MFT we need to go beyond the just say no mentality. I think it especially important becuase many of us are targets for new lifters to seek information about these things and we need good answers.

MFT is not simply a place to exchange diets and routines, but also important information about health and our overall well being.

Please forgive

me for my ignorance. I am just not to familiar with this topic and would like to learn more about it. I mean I know about the illegal kind with the injections and all but was unaware that there was an OTC version (don't worry I don't plan on using it or getting into, don't want Jamo or anybody else kicking my behind).

Are products like LG Sciences Methyl 1-D considered like an OTC steroid? Again, I plan on sticking with the normal supps (glutamine, creatine, etc) but would just like your expert opinions on the matter.

Any info is appreciated........................ :)

Is it worth the health risks? I think not! Last I checked ..still illegal. You hit a nerve with me in this subject but I'll keep myself in check. LOL! I'm proud to say I've never touched the stuff. I have friends that have tried them over the years....their gains come and go pretty fast and some have serious health issues as a result. I think health should always be the priority. The real question is why some say..."he's/she's got great genetics" when obviously roids were a major factor with their development. Yeah I know some will argue that you still need to train and diet to get the size and muscularity....I still say it's cheating! It's an illusion and a temporary one at that. Don't believe me? Well look at some retired bodybuilders before and after pics....so much for genetics...not to mention how poor their health is. Come on we all know how this works right?
