...I would never use them, but I'm not so sure what I think about it in general. As a rule of thumb, I try not to judge people for their personal choices and abuse is never a good thing. So in moderation? Probably not as terrible as a lot of other things. I used to be firmly against all steroid use, but after hearing about your side of the argument for a weekend, it doesn't bother me as much. :)
"Before I become a memory of what I used to be, get me the f@*% out of a world that's doing its best, night and day, to make me everybody else." - Have Heart
Lifting to me is about using my body and mind to overcome the most challenging physical feats I have undertaken, coming out on top, and then raising the bar. I like the extreme challenge, I like the slow progression, I like the pain....because it makes victory that much better. What good is getting huge or getting strong if it doesn't mean that I challenged myself day in and day out to get there?
I'm NOT saying that its super easy even for steroid users to get bodies like Ronnie Coleman, I'm just saying that its easier and quicker and therefore makes the final product not as valuable.
I think steroids are okay if you are being supervised by a physician and if you run blood tests frequently to check your triglycerides and enzyme levels, but not many people do that. I think if you want to become an IFBB pro bodybuilder and compete on the olympia stage you may have no choice but do use them. If you are an average joe at your local gym then you should just stick the the natural supplements like protein, creatine, and glutamine. Results will come......you just have be intense....intensity in training, nutrition, and intense mindset to succeed. I believe bodybuilding is not a talent sport, but it is really an experience sport. The more knowledge you have, the better results you achieve. God bless
In general, people have to be careful about what they put into their bodies. I mean, does it really make sense trying to live a so-called healthy lifestyle where you make the extra effort to be discliplined about following a proper diet/nutrition & exercise, then turn around & destroy your system with steroids? Of course not! But what people don't realize, especially with the sups found on shelves all over the place these days, is that steroids wear a mask. That's right! I've found that alot of the ingredients in some sups are called all sorts of things to hide the fact that they are what they are... steroids.
People who are curious & take the time to educate themselves on this subject would know that there are many different types of steroids that serve specific purposes. And everyone knows that there's a difference between using & abusing drugs.
So, with all that said, I go back to the first point I made. Why would you knowingly use something that can, & will, potentially kill you so you can have what you think is an edge over everyone else "right now"? What about later? Not satisfied with that? Ok, then ask yourselves if steroid use (alot of it or a little) is living the healthy lifestyle you really thought it would be...

whats the use of steriods if its gonna shrink your balls, you could have the biggest muscles in the world but you aint a man unless you got your nuts sized up!
Not for me at all, period. Why was it even created in the first place if it has all this side effects? Flat out ridiculous as to why people would use this.
well..my opinion....
i'd never even consider roids...i've been offered many times and i refuse...
i think its cheating and i think its just too bad that some people ruins the fun and the challenge competing when most people work hard to reach thier goals..wanting to win competition the natural way...and a cheater wins...that could frost my shorts!! lol...
of course there is some people that say that they just cant get big without roids, i dont know much about roids other than the fact that the side effects are nasty...
in a way i can understand if some people tried hard to get big and cant cause they are just not gifted, but in the other hand i dont know enough about it to say that i can understand thier problem, as i dont know if roids would make a difference, or if they just didnt try hard enough...i dont know...but roids are a fast way out and too risky in my opinion...
i'd never take it myself, cause im not willing to risk my health and im not a cheater...
i think where theres a will theres a way, and if you cant think further than to roids, then i think its the wrong hobby that you got yourself into..cause it kills you...and no hobby is worth your life...
again, i dont know much about these kinds of drugs, so i cant really post my opinion, cause im not sure of my exact opinion as i simply dont know enough, but the little i do know, is enough to make me stay away from it and never recommend it to anybody...
good that we can talk and learn about any issue/subject! NO SUBJECTS are OUT OF BOUNDS. Thanks for posting the blog. I hope the members here on MTF will find all the information they need to make the best choices for their individual fitness goals...be it suppliments, diets, exercise or whatever. Knowledge is POWER!
Yes it is! & sometimes people need the "behind the reasoning" of why something is good or bad or not what they need....it's important to provide that education or even if it's just someone's point of view...it still needs to be backed up by research or personal experience or any other way to reason why things are the way they are.....id like to think that that is what we offer here at MFT & that is what separates us from all 0thers out there!!~Ves~
ok...ok....i put this blog here on purpose.....there are a lot of ppl out there w/ the idea that roids will help them get where they need to get. ...or even think that certain ones will help w/ recovery (ex: HGH for an injury).....and with all the roid news covered these days and esp. w/ the wrestler who killed his family (they're saying due to roids)....I want too see the opinion of people........SO DONT BITE MY HEAD OFF THANK YOU!
This is not just a site to cover the "happy" ways of training, reality is that this stuff is out there & people get caught up in the use/illusion/or whatever you wanna call it...of roids & other supplements weather they 're over the counter or illegal. I think it's important to discuss this ang give answers that will encourage ppl to keep a clean healthy training & nutrition system to achieve their goals.........SO if you're going to give your oppinion or respond to this blog....make it educational and back up ur oppinion in order for others that may not be as EDUCATED to read and understand what is going on.........Get the point?!
~Ves~
not agree more Ves. As members of MFT we need to go beyond the just say no mentality. I think it especially important becuase many of us are targets for new lifters to seek information about these things and we need good answers.
MFT is not simply a place to exchange diets and routines, but also important information about health and our overall well being.
me for my ignorance. I am just not to familiar with this topic and would like to learn more about it. I mean I know about the illegal kind with the injections and all but was unaware that there was an OTC version (don't worry I don't plan on using it or getting into, don't want Jamo or anybody else kicking my behind).
Are products like LG Sciences Methyl 1-D considered like an OTC steroid? Again, I plan on sticking with the normal supps (glutamine, creatine, etc) but would just like your expert opinions on the matter.
Any info is appreciated........................ :)
Jam & i have already discussed this and i agree w/ his opinion....& exp in this but i want that blog and hopefully what he says will be able to help youg and older individuals considering use or using....lookin' 4ward 2 it!~Ves~
Is it worth the health risks? I think not! Last I checked ..still illegal. You hit a nerve with me in this subject but I'll keep myself in check. LOL! I'm proud to say I've never touched the stuff. I have friends that have tried them over the years....their gains come and go pretty fast and some have serious health issues as a result. I think health should always be the priority. The real question is why some say..."he's/she's got great genetics" when obviously roids were a major factor with their development. Yeah I know some will argue that you still need to train and diet to get the size and muscularity....I still say it's cheating! It's an illusion and a temporary one at that. Don't believe me? Well look at some retired bodybuilders before and after pics....so much for genetics...not to mention how poor their health is. Come on we all know how this works right?
*Disclaimer- Not judging any one on MTF that takes them. More power to you...it's just not for me.
just make sure u dont cheat with your diet and you will b ok buster!!
