I have developed what I think might be carpal tunnel syndrome. My left wrist is severely inflamed and my range of motion is very restricted. Particularly when I attempt to stretch my extensors.
I am trying to be proactive in my recovery by icing it and taking NSAI-drugs, in my case Inbuprofen. I wanted to know what type of interference taking these will have on my workouts. I recall reading or hearing somewhere about how it is not a good idea to take them surrounding a workout as they will interfere... but I cannot remember if that was "during a workout", or the few hours "following" a workout..
Perhaps it was something as simple as inhibiting your sense of 'fatigue' which might cause you to overtrain?
If anyone has any info please let me know...
This is one injury I dont want to "work through the pain" because i know it will only get worse if I do that.

carpel tunnel syndrome
Nonsteroidals do help inflammation and pain. It is good to take them before workouts and 4 hours afterwrdswith some caveats. All nonsteroidals irritate the stomach and will sooner or later cause irritation, bleeding and ulcers. For this reason, it is best to take them only for a short period-a week at most and only according to the directions on the bottle in terms of dosages.
You should definitely ice after workouts and in addition, take supplemental omega-3 fish oils (2,000 mg per day) to minimize the inflammatory response as a long term, preventive health measure.
Additionally, I would seek the assistance of a certified trainer or physical therapist to make sure you are not exacerbating the wrist injury by the way you are working out.

Thanks Doc
You're response was greatly appreciated. I will definitely make sure I do not take the Ibuprofen more than a week. I do take fish oil, as well as Glucosamine+MSM (which I find not nearly as effective as Glucosame+Chondroitin)

turmeric supplement
the herb turmeric is good for inflammation and is a natural alternative. Google it there is lots of good info on it. Many companies make this in supplement form.
