amen brother
i'm big on the "everyones human" idea.
for example, jsut because universities are big and powerful.. .DOESNT mean they dont make mistakes. and mistakes they DO make. and they are detrimental.
i was in the same boat bro. I CALLED and talked to a counselor over the phone, as well as in person i met with one of the advisors to talk about which program i should go in to beause of my current conditions and credits. after a while i had decided to go for a Bachelors that had everything I needed for my prerequisites for my Doctorate. following me so far? There were a lot of prereqs for PT that i could use for my bachelors and while i was at my current school, i figured i should take some of the rest of the Prereqs for PT, which wouldnt be for a few years.
Well, low and behold come time to apply to the big university for my bachelors and guess what. There was a deadline and boy did I miss it. Not only that, but the class was already full!!!
I had specifically EXPLAINED my incident, talking person to person about my situation, and explained i was going to be a transfer student with all my prereqs completed.. and NOT just for my bachelors, but also my doctorate!!!!!
They told me dead over the phone that there are NO DEADLINES for transfer students. I even EXPLAINED that i called because i saw on their website that there was a deadline. No they assured me, theres not a deadline. That was way before I applied, but anyways. this isnt a little decision either, this affects a HUGE problem. Number one, this means I ahve to go to school for ANOTHER year and now i'm behind a year at least. On top of that, what about the classes im going to pay for , I'm not even going to NEED any of them. So thats a ton of money down the drain. And if i DONT go to college I'm wasiting a year of my education and i could easily forget a lot of things. And on top of that INSURANCE!!!! If im not a fulltime student, i cant stay on my parents insurance. talk about holy funkhowser!
yeah. needless to say, im at that university and i love it, but im not in that program. i working on a different program now. i would rather have this bachelors because i can actually do something with it. something good comes out of everything, but i just wanted to share my story with ya ;)
