Anticipation ......EGYPT
Current mood: anxious

I wrote the poem, "Memories," awhile back and sent it to Kenny overseas. I have always mused that I lived there in one of my many lives. My daddy went to Egypt back in 1961, and I used to teach all about it in middle school. When Kenny asked me where I would like to go this summer on vacation, I wanted to go to Florida again. I love the beaches so much.

"But instead of Florida", he said, "Wouldn't you like to go to Cairo, Egypt? visit the pyramids, walk the banks of the Nile, and enjoy a ship cruise on the Nile River?"
Of course my initial reaction was HELL YEAH! LOL, and when the shock wore off I knew he was serious. We booked a trip starting June 30 through July 12. We will go from Houston to London, to Cairo, to The Nile, back to Cairo, then home.

I am ecstatic! So, perhaps this was a premonition poem...or still my memory from long ago.
Either way.....I feel like I am going 'home.'

To see and walk your banks again,
like going home to some lost friend.
A welcomed stance from something known,
a chance to glimpse forgotten homes.

Through grains of sand and dust of time,
a softer walk not just in mind,
a touch from long ago still sweet
again inside my heart will meet.

I'll know you now as I did then,
in lives now passed remembering when
I'll take you in my arms and find
we loved here once in other times.

The air was hot against my skin,
and I found you
remembering

I thought that it was just a dream,
But think it was a memory.
I walked the banks against the Nile
And stood, watching the crocodiles.

The air was hot against my skin.
The sand was touching me but then
The moment came when all was one
And there the life… I had begun

To take a shape from long ago
Remembering something I’d once known
I tasted milk of yester years
Releasing sadness mixed with tears.

My hair was black, my skin was brown
The essence of the time was sound
And into all the welcomed sights
I saw myself in different LIFE.

To each is given, each is known
Another place, another zone
Another face, another smile
I walked the banks once by the Nile.

A part of me familiar lies
Beneath the sands of other times
My hair so black, my skin so tan
Into the hour, into the sands
I slept and held
Another’s hand.
