Time to Work Out
Posted March 13th, 2009 by rayballer
Hi MFT, I was wondering if there is a specific time to work out better to isolate your muscles and get better results. Is it better to work out in the morning, noon, or in the evening, is there any differences from working out at different times. Some people have different opinions and like to work out different ways for similar reasons, but I was just curious what do you guys think about it and why is it better to work out in the morning at noon or in the evening?

You should work on
your own clock. Meaning, what works for me or someone else, may not work for you.
I have my own gym and have been known to workout at 3 in the morning.....just depends on what YOU want.
Consider your goals, obligations, etc and then, find what works for you. The most important thing is to TAKE TIME TO MAKE TIME.

Well...
At the end of the day it depends on when you can train really, also every body is different, I find training in the morning very hard and my goal is fat loss at the moment, so what I do is something like this:
Morning (Before breakfast) 60 mins. low intensity cardio
After (Around 3/4pm) weight training
Evening (around 7/8pm, 3/4 times a week) 2 hour workout (some stretching, a little cardio, some HIIT, punch bag work etc)
But the best time I guess would be around the afternoon when you got a few meals in you etc, but remember just focus on trying to fit it into your daily basis, so if you can't do it in the afternoon do it in the morning or evening or whenever you can.

Amen.
Experiment and find out when you feel your best; Ultimately there is not a significant enough difference in times of the day to warrant trying to 'squeeze' in a workout just so you can benefit from the time frame you worked out in.
I'm not a morning person, but for some reason I have my best workouts in the morning; most likely because my mind is clear, and when I workout, i dont worry about what other people are doing or thinkng of me; later in the day, especially in the evenings I seem to be more concerned with whether others are watching me, and I also have a million things on my mind at that point and have difficult concentrating.
Then there's my good friend Bobby,[ havent seen him around here lately] and he has his best workouts at night; much can be attributed to having had so many meals in his so his energy levels are high.
THere are research articles about how your cortisol levels and testosterone levels fluctuate throughout the day, and when they peak etc... but [in my opinion] they are significant enough to warrant changing your schedule just to get your workouts in at a specific time frame.

i read a magazine ( muscle
i read a magazine ( muscle and fitness ) and it said that training in the evening is optimal for muscle gains , however it also said that training in the morning is optimal for fat loss , so depending on your goals it varies !
I also read somewere that you are at your strongest from 4pm to 6pm , that aparently is when you will be at your strongest during the day , which results in you being able to lift heavier and put on more mass.
so if your goals are to lose weight = train in the morning
if your goals are to put on muscle and size = train in the after noon
