Back to the gym... finally!

Ravinous's picture

So i've found a new reason to train that has nothing to do with modeling or competition. It's family. I've decided that i'd like to be able to roll around on the rug with my kids, even if i'm 50 years old. I'd like to enjoy them while I can still move. lol

Ok, all jokes aside. This was my first week back after 7 weeks m.i.a. No it wasn't grueling. I took my time & went through each movement slowly & carefully with very light weights... as you should when starting back (whether beginner, interm. or pro). I started with what has grown to be my favorite body part, although it never looks that way - legs. That was Monday. Then yest. I did chest & arms. Then lastnight my wife gave me a light massage to help get rid of some of the lactic acid. That's another story...

So finally, i'm back!

Hey guys!

Will - It's great that you're back on your feet, literally! I guess sometimes we need to take a step back to see what's going on infront of us. Unfortunately injury can be a part of that as well.

Me toO!

I was out for 4 weeks to an ankle injury, its still not fully healed but im doing what i can. which just means no running basically. I can use the bikes (both types) and i can do incline walking for my cardio. i also trained a few days in there, but no where near what i wanted to do ( i could have done arms, shoulders and modified back some times, but you use more of your body than you realize for stabilization even WITH machines)
i can also do everything for lifting. today im going to "try the waters" with legs and see what i can do. I anticipate leg extensions (might cause some pain) and leg curls, thats it. but im going to throw in arms too. i might b able to do some machines.

ppl keep saying "are you sure you're supposed to be walking on it", to which i reply, with my knowledge & experience, tho im no doctor, i feel its fine. There is no pain and im also constantly rehabing it as best i can.
there are alittle pains in certain directions due to the ligaments (my guess) so i avoid those movements & twists.

i will make a Dr's appointment to see for sure whats the dilly-yo.
average recovery for severe ankle injury that i have is 6 weeks.

As usual, it's the end of the first week & i'm asking myself why i'm doing this again... why am I putting my body through all this pain. lol Lucky for you you have people kicking your ass when you're not doin what you're supposed to be doin. My poor wife... the misery I put her through sometimes. She tries. But other than my total body soreness, i'm great. Life is good & my stomach is full (at least for now). I still haven't won the lottery though, or i'd already have your address to pay you guys a visit down there. I'm also tryin to go for my PT cert.next month. Time to start building my empire!

What have you been up to?

So glad
