... eliminating pain medicine ....

the Q's picture

... that is my new years resolution ... last year i elimnated 6 other prescriptions and this year i intend to get rid of the pain meds AND not live in pain ... to do that i must begin lifting weights again ... and probably some additional pysical therapy ... i am a million hour recipient of physical therapy so whats a few more hours .? ... lart year i had my right shoulder operated on - removing a lot of spurs and resculpting the bones ... fortunately i have regained full range of motion but the strenght is just not there ... plus i have a bulging disk at L-4,5 for which i have i recieved a total of 21 epideral steriod injections ( which is one reason i gained all the weight i had to lose ) - WAY too many steriods ... i just cannot go that route any more and another surgery does not appeal to me , so its weight lifting time for me ... i just have such an aversion to lifting weights yet it takes it to get the result i need ... so i guess i need any and all encouragement to just do it ... yeah i can tell other people to just do it , but i guess i am just not practicing what i preach ...

Shoulder Therapy

David Berman's picture

Some time ago I put a good amount of effort into writing a Squidoo Lens about shoulder therapy that I hope you will find useful. You can check it out at www.squidoo.com/shouldertherapy.

Keep in mind that rehab and functional restoration are not the same as bodybuilding - the methods and the motivations are different. Even though you may "lift weights" the kind of exercise is wholly different than that which is typically done in a gym. Maybe that will lessen your aversion!

Good luck to you.
