...Lemonade diet/Master Cleanse....
... does any buddie know much about the Lemonade Diet .? ... i've been reading about it on the net ... i am considering going on the diet after the first of the year , not as a weight loss deal but to cleanse my system and to possibly lower my off the chart cholesterol numbers - 420 on total cholesterol and 350 on triglicerides ... i really do NOT want to have to start taking meds for that as i am in the process of eliminating all medications ... so far i have eliminated prozac and valproic acid for bipolar disored and feel SO much better and much less depressed ... of course ther was a time of adjustment ... also i have eliminated Nasonex and hydroxizine for allergies and muscle relaxers for sciatica ... unbelievable the side effects all these meds had especially when they are all thrown in my body in the same day even though not at the same time ... there are claims that the lemonade diet will help with just about any meducal issues ... the lemonade is made of equal parts lemon juice and maple syrup added to a liter (i think) of water ... this is to be consumed tree times a day for a total of 14 days ... supposedly it has the nutriets a body needs ... and that is what i question ... how can lemon juice and maple syrup provide nutriets .? ... feed back is greatly appreciated ....

no good!
I have heard of a modified version of this, adding cayenne pepper as well. (the one I read about was a 7 day program I think. I tried it for 3 days, said the heck with this and went out for Mexican food!)
Regardless, I don't believe in anything that is a quick fix. I am not a doctor (but am working on becoming a certified nutritionist!), but I would recommend a less agressive approach, maybe take some detox teas, very mild ones, or something to that effect or look into "The AntiOxidant diet" (it's a book), basically eating all the healthy foods loaded with antioxidants to help rid your body of toxins and get it back to a natural healthy state. And of course eating that way on a DAILY basis, not just a quick fix liquid diet for 14 days.
Good for you to begin to rid yourself of all those medications, and I wish you the best of luck! Hang in there!
Probably a bad idea
I've both heard of this "cleanse" as well as known people that have (against my best advice) tried it. In my opinion, it's extreme and not wise.
If you are interested in lowering your cholesterol naturally, then I'd encourage you to keep looking and make sure that the source of the information is valid (i.e. an expert in health and nutrition). Simple dietary changes can have profound effects on your health (i.e. ingesting more fiber in the form of fibrous veggies and whole grains while eliminating sugars and processed foods).
The old saying "if it sounds too good to be true" is, in this case, an old saying that has stuck around for a good reason. Keep up the good work, the consistency and the questioning!

This is ..
..crazy and unhealthy , there is not such a thing as a lemonade diet . I'm afraid to say what you need is a well balanced diet to get to your goals ! You can't do liquid diet !
I looked into this diet and
I looked into this diet and I think it's total GARBAGE!
If you want to cleanse out your body there's much better ways instead of drowning your body with lemon juice and all that syrup. I think you should look into a healthier form of cleaning out your body.
