Hey MFTers, have anyone ever "alkalized" before? What's your experience/feedback?

Mona Liza Reyes's picture

So I'm the first to admit if I don't know an answer... I either look it up on google or simple ask people questions who may have had experience with it. :) WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT ALKALIZATION?

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated, I've found some interesting articles already, but am curious to hear some "real life" experience. Looking forward to hearing what you guys have to say... Happy Weekend MFTers and looking forward to meeting some of you in Vegas in a couple of weeks!

Be blessed and bless others,
MO

Hi Mona There is a lot of

Hi Mona
There is a lot of misconception about alkaline diets so let me clear some stuff up for everyone. Our bodies are regulated at a precise ph of between 7.35-7.45. This is considered physiologic ph and is the optimal range in which our cells work. The interesting part is that our bodies are much better adapted to handle high acid conditions than high alkaline conditions. In the hospital, my sick patients can have a ph down to 6.9 and still be alive (but VERY critical condition). This is a very dangerous ph and we have to correct it rapidly. However, I have never seen a patient alive with a ph of 7.8 because they often have abnormal heart rhythms as soon as the ph gets greater than 7.5 to 7.6 and this can cause death.
Now in terms of alkaline diet, its basically eating fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts, and legumes. These are all very good for you for a variety of reasons (other than simply the ph concept). They will NOT change your body's ph. Your body will autoregulate its ph via the kidneys and lungs. BUT these will reduce the acid burden on your body. Think of it as using premium unleaded gasoline instead of the cheaper unleaded gasoline.
Hope that helps.
Warmest regards,
Sean Hashmi, MD

thank you for the clarification Dr. Sean..

Hey Liza, I know you're looking for real life experiences with the alkalization, but for everyone else here who don't know what this process is, here's a link with some good info.

I think it's keeping your Ph

I think it's keeping your Ph level balanced at 7. Water is a great source for alkalization and so are supergreens. Sodas, caffeine, certain spices and things like that are highly acidic, and you gotta keep that acid-alkaline balance. Like your body has to normalize body temp, it also has to normalize the Ph balance for proper functioning. It neutralizes the acidic surplus in your body I believe. Alkalization can help reduce a lot of things like feeling lethargic, heartburn, etc. This is what I have learned about it anyways, if someone has something else to add, or share there point of view about this subject, feel free to do so.
