For lack of a better name, this is what I call it! A girl I met at my last fitness model competition was telling me about this recipe, she said she read it on Bodybuilding.com. I did a search for it and couldn't find it anywhere on the internet. All she told me was that you use Tuna and egg whites in the crust, and from there I created the entire recipe on my own from scratch.
Obviously not like the real thing, but it's as healthy as you can get for pizza! You can make it different every time too and vary the ingredients, be creative. I had leftovers for a couple days as well, and I still liked it!
Crust:
Blend or Mix:
2 cans Tuna
2 Egg whites
1 TBLSP olive oil
Mix in herbs (rosemary, oregano, basil, fresh pressed garlic)
(I actually added some kidney beans in there, but they didn't blend very well, but was still good anyway, and it gave the appearance of olives in the crust, ya know kind of like focaccia bread. Might not appeal to everyone though)
Add (stir in):
1/4 cup whole wheat flour or rolled oats (yeast or baking powder will work too)
adjust amount until mixture is doughy.
Press onto a greased (Pam sprayed) stone pizza cooker, Bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes until light brown
Top with
1, 8 oz can of Hunts Tomato sauce- Basil, garlic, oregano, flavored
fresh mushrooms
chopped green and/or red peppers
Ground Turkey meat, optional
Fat free (or low fat) mozzarella cheese
In the picture, I used asparagus too.
Bake another 15 min until crust is dark brown and ingredients are cooked and hot, and sauce is bubbling
Sprinkle parmesan cheese and crushed red pepper if desired on top before eating.
From what I quickly calculated, if you cut the pie into 6 pieces, here is the nutrition info per slice:
3 g fat (mostly from the olive oil)
8 g protein (mostly from the tuna)
10 carbs (from the wheat flour), I am not sure if you leave this out and use baking powder what it will be like??
