It's blogging time! (broken dreams and brighter futures)

Jamie Yu's picture

Hi Y'All,

I thought it was about time to blog a little something something, as of late all I have been doing is adding comments to other people blogs, throwing my 2 cents in here and there. Writing the odd article....

So wassup with me then as of late....(without being to self indulgent!)

Well at this precise moment in time I'm feeling sorry for myself as I am recovering from a nasty dose of the flu (yep I did 'neck check' and found I needed the week off!) yet still having to work my butt off at my place of business and still prepare for me leaving my home country possibly forever in December. (by choice)

As Jamo will tell you, emigrating to a new country and the prep you do before it can play havoc on your day to day routines, and he has done it twice before! Leaving good friends, my family, my job, money worries to name but a few concerns of mine.

My head is firmly up my butt at the moment as its not as easy to leave it all behind sometimes. I have lived here in the UK all my life, except for stints in Hong Kong and Australia, and as much as I am moving on to better things I can't help but look back and ask myself, did I try hard enough when I 'was' living here?

For me personally my life pretty much revolved around the gym and bodybuilding for alot of years, I had aspirations to be a top amateur bodybuilder and back in the 90's, Jamo's physique was one of the few I aspired to look like as he in my opinion was the epitome of mass with class, sleek lines, symmetry, full muscle bellies, without the bloated look of a lot of top amateurs and pro's alike. I only met Jamo once way back when and I can tell you the man has not changed one bit, forever humble and always finding time or trying to find time for everyone. He may have lost a little mass off his physique and his head LOL (he used to have a very cool slick haircut!) since I last saw him face to face but his heart is nothing but bigger than ever.

So anyway...

Unfortunately after spending every hard earned pound (£) and every minute of my life timing my meals, ensuring I had 8-10 hours sleep a night, training like a machine and avoiding any stressful situations (cortisol is a b*tch! lol) I never ever reached my goal. If I put my energy into something that would have had greater financial rewards especially if I was more career minded who knows where I could have been now...

I look back sometimes and somehow think I wasted a lot of my time and money. But on the other side of the coin, I wouldn't have been able to share my 17years of experience with you and ultimately I find this far more satisfying than standing on any stage and earning a trophy or medal.

So to conclude, I hope you appreciate my opinions and help, what I tell you is from the heart and the few brain cells I have remaining. I am commited to the cause (MFT) and hope to be around for a very long time if Jamo will let me. In case a few of you don't already know, I'm leaving for the land down under and will be doing some things here and there for MFT and Jamo from good old Aussie and you might just see 'The thunder from down under' hitting our screens once more!

I sometimes speak of Jamo like he has saved my life or something which could be considered over the top but I cannot praise this man enough for the things he has done for me behind the scenes and the selfless acts he has shown me and others. He has injected a new found enthusiasm to a lifestyle/sport I used to live 24/7 whatever you want to call it back into me. I am determined now to carve myself out a career and not just 'a job' and go for that personal training qualification I so never got round to doing, only this time I will be incorporating the fantastic Jamcore Systems in to it all for sure. (with permisson lol).

He owes me nothing and I owe him much.

2009 will be a great year for you, for me and for MFT, so thanks for your lovely comments, messages and support, I hope I can do much, much more for the site as the months go by so that you guys out there continue to be enthused, educated, motivated and satisfied!

Yours in fitness and in good health,

Jamie

Believe me when I say you're not alone. I won't get into alot of detail to bore you, but sometimes taking a step backwards can open your eyes to other, much bigger oportnities. We all wish you a safe journey during your move. We have no doubt that you'll do just fine in following your goals. As you said, Jamo did it. I came to Canada just last year & i'm doing it. Damn if you're not gonna do it too!

Dam well said

Being able to positively impact peoples lives, throughout your life is what its all about. Its about the things money cannot buy. THink about it...
Unless you're a poor soul, then you would largely realize LOVE is one of those things.
Relationships are another. Thats what builds your life whether you realize it or not, those institutions are so important... FAMILY, FRIENDS. They make you, they make us, they make culture. And if you think culture doesn't affect you, try taking a sociology class or just listen to my example of many,
Why is it that you work a typical 8 hour day, 9-5 job? Thing about another culture like some of the Spanish speaking cultures, they have mid-day naps, its more than a ritual.. its part of their society.
What about sports that are a part of our schools, funded and ran by them. That doesn't happen in a lot of academic cultures, sports play no role.

So my point is, what we should be after, are those "priceless" things. That's why our morals are so ingrained into our minds, they can literally decide our lives.
For example, what kind of a psychological impact would you feel if you married your blood cousin ? Why is that? Its our culture. Some cultures that's what you do. There's no right or wrong, thats our culture. Just some big examples.

This was one of the best blog I read for a long time here .. I read it and I see myself preparing for my move to Australia when I was living England forever thinking THAT WAS IT Im sick and tired of this country and I'm sick and tired of the weather . I get to OZ and guess what ? my life changed for the best and worse . I was 26 years old living the dream of being in one of the nicest country in the world . 7 months later I was back in London , doing what I loved doing .. training in Muscleworks Gym with my buddies and keeping the dream alive of getting my IFBB pro card . What did I learn from moving to australia ?
First I was too young , second I wasn't ready ! third Don't get involved with a hot CHICK and follow her for the wrong reasons !
IF I had to do it all over again I would have waited . But then again this is how you learn . You are making the best move in your life . New environment , new life , new friends ..and you going with YOUR GIRL , hopefully your future WIFE . We go through life learning from our mistakes . Bodybuilding could be time consuming , a waist of time in some cases if you are so self obsessed and have nothing else to do . I love bodybuilding because it made me who I'am today ! I thank god for giving me the ability to leave the sport at a young age , and focus on what's important in life , which is helping others by being creative and do what I'm doing now . Did I save your life ? hmmmm ..Nope I didn't ! You were just wiser to see it miles away, some people can't see it at all ! You are more than welcome to do anything here at MFT , I really appreciate your contribution as far as articles, blogging and helping others . The JamCore training system is something that will change your mind forever ...I'am looking forward to see you with Nick in front of Camera coming straight from OZ .with exercise and recipes .THATS YOUR GIG ! God bless you brother
