hi guys , well today was my first day on contest prep , i started off with 30minutes on rowing machine and supplemented before and after etc etc anyway ! my meal 2 was 200g of salmon and 50g brown rice , i would like to know ANY healthy seasonings, spices, herbs etc that i can put on the salmon or rice to take the PLAIN boring-ness out of them , the salmon was so dry and boring and the rice was extremely plain , i was wondering first IF I CAN PUT SEASONINGS ON THEM ( ie can i get away with seasonings or should i worry about sodium etc ) ? and if yes then what ones can you recomend ??

PS i am NOT getting ready for a show i am just trying to shed that little bit of off-season fat from my mid-section , to look good for the summer so sodium and salt intake doesnt have to be AS STRICT does it ?? :):D any suggestions would be very much appreciated , thanks guys ;)

what about natural seasoners like

parsley, lemon juice (makes you not want the salt), can you use sea salts?
leeks have an onion flavor to them....you have those in your country?

Or should I say no no.. ><. I would watch your sodium intake so far as you don't take in ridiculous amounts simply because inbalances in sodium/potassium can cause horrible muscle spasms! I've had them before and had a really bad incident one time [I was hydrated and still getting cramps and spasms] so I figured it had to be an inbalance.

Other than that I honestly don't watch my sodium too heavily. I think if you go to the store and look at the spices/herbs section you'll find most spices/herbs do not have any calories at all. Just be careful of the spices that already have many herbs mixed with them because a lot of times the sodium is ridiculously high. And of course Mrs. Dash is #1 in my book like our bro mentioned below :-p.

If you wrap the salmon in foil and broil it in the oven it tastes amazing [add herbs/spices beforehand of course :-p] and it keeps all the moisture locked in.

I dont know if you have this out where you are, but I like using Mrs. Dash seasonings...sodium free.

I dont know if you have read this, but I would go buy Arnold schwarzneggar's encyclopedia of bodybuilding...If you are going to try and do bodybuilding professionally, that book is a must read :)

garlic powder is good...as long as it is not garlic salt it is salt free...and also cayenne pepper...anything spicy i believe is good for you, and may have a very slight impact on your metabolism...i eat stuff so spicy that i sweat out about 5 lbs of water, so....hehehe ;)
