Training 9/7

willbefit's picture

Day off, but I am not going to just sit around and do nothing.

Just finished doing the household chores (fun, fun, fun).

Now it is time to go have fun. I am going golfing.

And NO, I repeat NO, I do not ride the cart, I walk and carry my own bag...lol.

3 sets of tricep bench dips.

3 sets of ez curl bar 21's
Last set to failure..

Sunday is day off, so nothing happening there.

Awesome Event..

I had the opportunity to go see a power lifting meet for the first time today. One of the trainers at my new gym was competing in the bench press. I, at first thought that it wouldn't be that big of a meet. In middle of the US in Omaha, Nebraska. I was way wrong. It just so happens that it occurred at Big Iron Gym, which is owned by the strongest woman in the world. That would be Becca Swanson. It was definitely a spectacle. Iron plates being tossed around like change from your pocket. 1000 + lbs squats, 900 lbs bench, and a 771 lbs deadlift.

Training 9/5

Today was all about the shoulders, and that was it.

Superset
4 sets shoulder press w/palms facing each other. (No chicken winging it.)
4 sets front raises w/palms facing up.

Superset
3 sets side lateral raises (pinky up, thumbs down)
3 sets bent over rear lateral raise. (start w/ palms facing each other rotating to thumbs down)

Superset
3 sets smith machine shrugs
3 sets Dorian style shrugs

All sets 12-15 reps
Last set to failure.

I felt the burn today.

Saturday is planned for arms. Bi's and Tri's, and a AB kicker...

Update

Well, I think I have found my new gym. I still have my membership at 24 hour fitness for those times when a holiday comes up, or if I am out of town, I can still get a workout in.

Who took the day off ?

willbefit's picture

I was just curious, how many of us lost out on a day of training ? Did you skip out on that day of training, or running those extra laps, just because it was a holiday, or did you push on to achieve your goal ?

Labor day workout..

willbefit's picture

Woke up today feeling guilty that I have not had a workout in a few days. In my search for a new trainer and facility to work out at, I kind of let things slip by. Not to happen again, I can guarantee. Being it is Labor Day, I thought I had better call one of the gyms that I am a member at to see if they were open. The lady on the other end of the phone, tell me that they will be open for another 40 minutes. Wow, I had better get moving. 10 minutes to get there, and a quick warm up. The thought of weather or not I had time crossed my mind.

Venting....

I wandered into a local nutrition store the other day, being I was getting a little low on my protein powder. After the clerk did his job of asking how he can help me, and if I needed a multi, creatine, glutamine, etc. He then asks if I ever thought about using a pro-hormone. Knowing what they are, I asked "Whats that?". He goes on to tell me how they will help me put on huge amounts of muscle with little fat in a short amount of time. So I asked him about side effects. "Not if you don't abuse them and go by the suggested doses." he claims.

What a difference..

I went in for a free workout with a potential new trainer just hours ago. I am now so pumped up it is not even funny. I have been used to doing a full body cross training workout, and doing only two sets per body part. Well, that was not the case today.
It was chest, shoulders, and triceps to complete failure (OUCH!!!!) and ABS.
I don't believe I have ever been pushed or even worked out that hard in my life. As I sit here typing this I am still feeling the tightness in each area worked. Previously that would have faded away on the drive home from the gym.

Mixed Thoughts...

Well, I have been with my current trainer for about 6 months. I have made some great changes from once I started. The original plan was to lose a little body fat. That was accomplished. I went from originally being at 19% to 10%(where I have been stuck!!!!). Since beginning my goals have changed. I now wish to compete as a first time competitor in an all natural competition here in town. That would be approximately 10 months away. My trainer knows this, however, nothing really seems to change in the training.

Thank you MyFitTribe..

I just wanted to take a moment, to thank everyone that has become a part of site. It has been around longer then I knew. I first saw an advertisement in a free magazine that I received at a local gym I go to now and then. It was a small ad, but it caught my eye. When I got home, I started the process of making a profile, and went from there.

Something new all the time..

I warmed up on the treadmill for about 10 minutes as usual, then we head outside. Today I found out for the first time how long it takes me to run a mile. Being this was the first time doing this, I guess this was supposed to be my baseline time. I am told to run to the electric company, touch the door, and back to a stop sign, and back to the line in the parking lot. Supposedly 1 mile. Not sure what a good time is, but I just tried to keep a steady pace, and maintain proper breathing. When I start breathing in and out through my mouth, I am usually done in a few minutes.

Lactic Acid buildup...

willbefit's picture

Correct me if I am wrong, but the tightness and soreness is due to the increase of Lactic Acid buildup in the muscles. I tend to feel this only in the legs (thighs), and upper chest/shoulder areas. I never feel it in my back or arms.
Would I be correct in saying that I don't feel it there, because I am just not pushing hard enough, or using enough weight, etc.

Any thoughts ?

Feet hurt...

willbefit's picture

Being that is just over a month until my goal date. My trainer has really been pushing me the last week or two. When doing legs, he has really been pushing me. He no longer lets me choose the weight. He sets it for me. After watching one of the videos with Jamo and Sagi doing legs, I remember Jamo saying to make sure to push with the heels to keep the tension off the knees. In doing so, I have noticed that my heels are hurting the next day and it is really hard to walk in the morning the next day.

Time to spend some money..

willbefit's picture

Found myself trying on several pairs of jeans this morning in my closet in an attempt to find a pair that would not fall down. I think following the diet, and hitting that stairmaster, and elliptical everyday is truly starting to pay off. Now I get to go shopping for some new clothes that fit properly....Yippee...This stuff works....
