Rate my Plate : Guacamole Chicken Sandwich

will_i_am's picture

To the average Joe, lunch time might usually means a rush to the nearest fast-food joint to grab a burger and fries. Or for those watching what they eat, a chicken caesar salad loaded with dressing? Somehow, we've gone a little wrong in the past few years with our choices in what we eat, and there's no doubt about it. Of course we're all busy and we don't have any time to make our lunch, let alone our breakfast!

So I've made a quick little recipe here, and I hope to continue this trend as a new incorporation of MyFitTribe.
I call it.... "Rate My Plate"

Truly Caffeine-ation: The Do's and Do'nuts

will_i_am's picture

So recently I realized, I’m in a constant state of defending the coffee drinkers. It’s everyday that you hear someone telling you what you should do, and if you drink coffee, you hear may this a lot: "Why do you drink coffee? You know its really bad for you right?"
To which you reply "Yeah, I do. Hey did you know that donut in your hand has been shown to increase energy and boost metabolism?"

Something like that, ironic isn't it?

Hey MFT Tribers!

Health & Inspiration

Hey! We all remember Rick Schaff and his crazy new recipes that show us just a little more detail and complexity to just how important it is to make sure our foods stay nutrient/vitamin dense and how to get the most out of them. He also showed us how to keep our digestive systems working super efficiently for true health, on the INSIDE and in return, our outsides look amazing.

Metabolically Positive: Females & Males

So! It's been a while since I ASKED a question here at MFT.com so I wanted to add my insight and hear what you all had to suggest and what knowledge you could bring to "the table" so to speak.

Lets quickly go over a basic fundamental idea here that I utilize when trying to explain to people the importance of "eating enough" when they start their fit n' healthy endevours.

Remembering.... Super Cardio!

will_i_am's picture

Hey guys/gals... and Brian and also Ravinous.

Remember my question about super cardio, here's the link (if not, read up please):
http://www.myfittribe.com/blogs/will-i-am/20080511/super-cardio.html

Guess what, just as I had hypothesized, although my thoughts were very complex and much was not even discussed on the blog, I found an answer or at least a showcase of my efforts.

Afraid of food! The too-few calorie scare!

will_i_am's picture

So MFT'ers. Its come to my attention that you have a few groups of people when it comes to weight loss. You have those that just want to hear justification for what they're already doing , and that they'll make great success on their half-ass workout schedule and half-ass unhealthy meal plan.

Then you yhave those that are serious and committed. And maybe some inbetween.
Those that are serious seem to be afraid to eat too many calories, and I can't blame them! They're on a roll losing weight, or they're just getting started but too few calories can be just as bad unfortunately.

Nutrition Timing for Cross Training: Powerlifting

will_i_am's picture

Hey guys/gals!
To help my body out big time, I've decided to do powerlifting once a week on the weekends with my buddies (the other group, ahah) that are powerlifters. This is completely diffeernt from bodybuilding if you know anything abuot powerlifting, if not, maybe that will be another blog :D

Anywho, I cannot see why the nutrition would be any different for before the workout.

Super Cardio

will_i_am's picture

Here we go My Fit Tribers!
I want everyone to put their input :)

Hypothetically speaking, shouldn't one be able to do a large amount of cardio in one day and continue to lose body fat, while consuming the proper nutrition?

This includes proper timing of both and rests when necessary.

For example.... 1 hour of moderate intensity cardio, sip on a protein shake with a few carbs (not too many or your body will use the food as source)... wait 15 minutes or so. 1 hour of cardio again, shake. Wait another 15-20 minutes.
And continue this?

Allergies, Sinus Congestion: Herbal remedies

will_i_am's picture

Hey guys/gals!

I've been sick the past week with sinus/congestion in my chest, felt like fluid build up of flem and crap in my chest. A smokers cough were my other symptoms along with stuffed nose. Its that time of year again.

What type of remedies are there?

As you all know, except the newbies.... =)... im against medicinal prescription drugs and thigns like tylenol, advil, etc.

Im stubborn and maybe thats why im still sick (since I wont take meds) but something has to help.

Drink lots of fluids...
Teas...

What else really helps clear it up?

Where's our Doc at? :D

Truly "Healthy" Breads .:. Sprouted Grain Breads

will_i_am's picture

So I did a quick net-surf on how sprouted grains are created, and i found some quite controversial feedback on them. I was wondering all you nutritional oriented folks out there, how healthy is sprouted bread really?

Do you Deadlift?

will_i_am's picture

I was just wondering, do you yahoo? ;) i mean, Deadlift?

I brought this exercise up, because it's the new years, and like normal people want to keep their workouts fresh, fun and intense. I believe the quickest way to get lean is to be intense, powerful and add mass to help. Some moves that bring out the best in you are compound exercises, a few articles have been posted and blogged on these already, but one of which I wanted to bring back up, the Deadlift.

Christmas Wishlist

will_i_am's picture

So everyone at MFT!! What's the most anticipated gift you would like to have this year for christmas?

I know everyone would like to rekindle the fire and keep it burning with their loved ones if they have one, and to have an awesome new year to stay healthy and inshape. But what about toys!! Haha. Sometimes we all want something to do to relax, besides some good yoga.
