Finally found a tuna snack I like.

Tuna is a great source of protein and low in carbs. If you can stand the taste.....
I tried eating regular canned tuna and simply couldn't get around the nastiness and the fishy taste. I don't know how to prepare it to make it better but I've tried a few things and failed LOL If you can eat the stuff this way it's probably better than what I'm going to offer but here is one for those of us who turn their nose up at regular packaged tuna.
Not as sore, plus a video!
Posted October 9th, 2008 by SithVixenMy body seems to have caught up a little bit since my first week of training. No more soreness. YAY! That was the worst.
I haven't started lifting yet. But hopefully it won't be as bad. I'm working on some muscle development outside of weights by standing on one leg and trying to do stuff without falling over. That's just directed at karate, not actual tone or mass.
I need a waaaahmbulance!
Posted October 6th, 2008 by SithVixenSo for the last 6 weeks I was not able to work out ONCE. It's like as soon as my husband lost his job and our health insurance, my body gave me the middle finger. LOL
Weight Loss still going (I think)
Posted August 15th, 2008 by SithVixenI'm still going good with the diet and exercise. I've only got 2 more weeks to Dragoncon and I want those last 2 pounds GONE. Hopefully I will be around 109lbs by then, that will be an awesome break!
But I'm having to crack down a little bit. I like my pasta and whole wheat carbs and they slowly sneak up on me. Mostly in treat form. I've still managed to be mostly good and lost 6 pounds in 8 weeks, but for the next two weeks I really have to get a rein on it.
Body Fat Calculator: Am I doing it wrong?
Posted August 14th, 2008 by SithVixenWhenever I try to use the myfittribe body fat calculator, I get a weird reading.
http://www.myfittribe.com/bmrcalc
Bodyfat %: -20.84%
Lean Body Mass (LBM): 135lbs
I'm not sure why the % is in the negatives and I'm not sure why it's telling me I have an LBM of 135lbs when I only weigh 112lbs.
Any tips on how to get it to give me a slightly more accurate reading?
Here are my measurements:
Height 163" (5'3")
Weight 112
Age 28
Neck: 12"
Waist: 25.5"
Hips: 34"
Bicep: 9.5" (flexed)
Calf: 12" (flexed)
Left Ear plugs up when working out
Posted July 9th, 2008 by SithVixenI don't know if any of you experience this - I've been getting it just this year.
When I workout (especially cardio) my ear plugs up. At first both ears would do it, now just my left ear does it and it's ANNNNNNOYING. It goes away after 30 min to 3 hours; only to return again the next day when I work out. Chewing gum, blowing out and swallowing doesn't get rid of it. It just eventually goes away on its own.
Today I took an allergy pill to see if it was nasal drainage or something clogging up the eustachian-tube. I may have to get a neti pot for nasal cleaning :(
Diet Change shows a difference
Posted June 26th, 2008 by SithVixenLike my last post, I have to say that modifying my diet and reducing those bad carbs has started showing a difference.
I honestly didn't expect to see results for about 4 weeks. I'm in my second week of it and I have dropped another 2 lbs (total of 4 lbs).
Being a girl I'm hoping that's not mostly water weight. But generally I have never flucuated that many lbs even with water weight and it always goes back by my next workout.
Here is what I'm saying:
Update on progress
Posted June 23rd, 2008 by SithVixenSince I changed my diet up because of my long standing plateau....(why did I leave it so long?) I've seen some results. I've only been doing this for a week or two.
Bad Girl
Posted May 29th, 2008 by SithVixenSo I was pretty good about updating this and then I got pretty bad. I'm sorry! If I get too many things on my attention span I can easily get lazy about one thing or another.
Fortunately I still work out and eat right. I almost have nothing to report there because I've had no success or loss in that area. Which isn't a good thing. I'd like to become leaner and it's not going anywhere. I have neither lost body fat or gained muscle, despite changing my workout routine almost obnoxiously. I love routine too.
Girl Weights! *rant*
Posted September 21st, 2007 by SithVixenIn a bit of frustration with working out, I think I need to design some girl free weights and encourage gyms to INVEST in them. That is, 1lb increments from 1-50lbs I swear. Color them pink if you like!
I suppose this seems like a huge waste to manufacturers and gyms but I don't think they get it.
Here is my problem:
Over a period of 2 weeks (6 weight workouts) I find that I have trouble spacing my free weights properly.
Bad week is over!
Posted September 14th, 2007 by SithVixenHahaha, sorry I haven't been avidly posting. My major event of the year is over now I promise.
Dragoncon is a wee bit of a geek convention that I attend every year. I design and make costumes for the event and wear them. It's kind of like a red carpet thing for costumers since there are over 30,000 people that attend and costumes are very much in view. There are thousands of them. Everyone secretely competes with one another to do the most amazing costume or the most original concept, even if they don't officially compete in the costume contest.
Cardio is "lame" ?
Posted September 3rd, 2007 by SithVixenA friend of mine recently moved from doing cardio to doing weights. Now she seems to think that cardio is the evil lame enemy that is only used by gym wimps. She is posting articles to support her view. I was just wondering what the actual consesus is from people here who are trainers or who have been working out for quite some time.
I've never had a problem with cardio - I try to get a balance of heavy lifting and cardio. It was always my impression that while weights build muscle and tone, cardio is still the best way to remove body fat. Not that building muscle doesn't.
Hypertrophic Specific Training
Posted August 2nd, 2007 by SithVixenI've started on a new workout routine recommended to me by a friend. I probably wouldn't have been interested much in "yet another form of working out" if I hadn't seen his before and after shots. And I don't think he has a trainer so I was kind of suprised by the amount of muscle growth he had. In a 6 week period his muscle growth was completely visible in at least an inch of difference, without any hormones or artificial means. That is more than I can say for myself for working out for 7 years.

Bamix - Easy and fun food prep machine
Posted July 26th, 2007 by SithVixenI have to share this one since we all here strive to eat healthy and this is yet another tool in the arsenal that may assist you in making food prep fast, easy, fun and creative.
A Bamix is a top of the line handmixer made in Switzerland. I've yet to see their equal and I've seen it with my own eyes so you know this isn't a sales pitch. I've wanted a bamix for about 8 years now. My mom bought one 8yrs ago (and still has and uses it) and it can do some neat things. It's neither cheap nor junky.
