Time to Work Out

rayballer's picture

Hi MFT, I was wondering if there is a specific time to work out better to isolate your muscles and get better results. Is it better to work out in the morning, noon, or in the evening, is there any differences from working out at different times. Some people have different opinions and like to work out different ways for similar reasons, but I was just curious what do you guys think about it and why is it better to work out in the morning at noon or in the evening?

Arm Strength

rayballer's picture

hey MFT members, I just wanted to clarify and know a couple of things about the strength from our arms. Arnold Schwarzegger stated in one of his books that for you to gain an inch in your biceps you need to gain at least 10 pounds of muscle, is this true?

Ideal Body Measurements

rayballer's picture

Hi MFT, Happy New Year to you all, I was wondering if you guys know what are the ideal body measurements for our body parts? How do we know that our body parts are proportional? What are some ratios or formulas that help us calculates this data. From what I know the chest-to-waist ration is 1.618 which is the golden ratio which is hard to achieve. The waist-to -chest ratio should be 0.7 or less to be considered very fit. Thight-to-calve ratio is 1.63. Steve Reeves says that the neck, arms, and calves should be measured the same to be proportional. Is this true?

Muscle Groups

rayballer's picture

Hi MFT, I was wondering how many muscle groups are there and how many times a week should each bodypart should be trained. I've been hearing many peoples give different opinions of how many muscle groups are there.

Some say they are: Chest, Back, Shoulders, Legs, Arms, Abs or Chest, Back, Shoulders, Legs, Arms,Legs, Abs, Forearms, Calves, and sometimes the Glutes because it's a muscle as well.

From what I know the big muscle groups are: Chest, Back, Shoulders, and Legs. I'm assuming the small muscle groups are: Biceps, Triceps, Abs, Calves, Forearms, Glutes.

rayballer's picture

Hey, MFT, hows it going, I was just wondering if the perfect push-up or perfect pull-up really works, if not is it better getting a multi-function chinning bar or any chin-up bar for a great workout? If none of these are any good which one do you suggest?

Bowflex Dumbbells

rayballer's picture

Hi MFT, hows it going, I was wondering if the products from t.v. that advertise ab rocket, bowflex gym, bowflex dumbells, red, and etc really work or is that just a way to convince consumers to buy their products. I was thinking of getting the bowflex dumbells but I'm not sure if it's worth it because their expensive online, but it has about 20 diferent pundages you can change. I have 20 lb and 50 lb dumbells but their certain exercises I still can't do because I need heavier wieght or lighter weight. What do you think I should do?

rayballer's picture

Hi MFT, hows it going,Happy Easter to all of you. I was wondering if you guys know where to buy a pull-up bar or how to make one. I know there some pull-up bars you can get on line but I'm not sure if their right for me because you have to attach them to the door and I'm a little too big for that.I'm 6'1 and my standing reach is 7'10 and I weigh 170 lbs. Do you guys have any ideas where I can buy one or make one. Theres hardly no where in my house or outside of my house to have one, I have no trees to hang from somewhere, no dirt to put one in.

Size in Arms

rayballer's picture

hey, I was just wondering for your guys opinions and input about arms strength in height.I know for a fact that shorter people who have big arms and chest makes their bodies stand out. How big are big arms in your opinion, what is average and small. It all depends on the height right or age and workout program and etc.. For ex: lets say a guy is 5'9, which is average height for a man, how big do you think his arms should be for them to appear big in his physique. I would probably say about maybe 16-17 inches. For someone 6'0-6'3 like 18-20 inches would look big on them.

Standard Squats

rayballer's picture

Hey MFT, hows it going, I was wondering if standard squats are an effective exercise because I read in the Mens Health Magazine that standard squats do not train both your legs the same. In the magazine, states that researchers say that doing standard squats, one leg is getting 6% stronger than the other. They do not know why yet, but is this true. They suggest doing single-leg squats, lunges and step-ups instead. Is this true or not? If you guys want to see where it says that it's on the February 2008 Mens Health Magazine on page 46. Heres what it says:

hey MFT, I'v been doing the Jamcore program and i'v seen a little bit results, but I'm just wondering how long will it take me to gain muscle mass. How long does it usually to take to gain muscle in weeks, months or years. I have been realizing that each time i workout I always stay the same weight and i try to eat healthy and eat alot and etc but i'm still the same weight. I'm not sure if i'm losing muscle, fat or both cuz sometimes i lose like 5 pounds and then gain it back with the same weight, what do you think is happening?
