The Dreaded BONK...
Posted November 26th, 2008 by LoseItOnce2008Bonking occurs when your body runs out of energy required to sustain normal body functions. You may get a "dopey" or "punch drunk" feeling during your ride, usually near the middle or end of your ride. Other symptoms are feeling faint, dizzy, nauseous, fatigued, or just worn out. The bonk is caused by prolonged overexertion, or simply running out of sufficient energy necessary to keep going. You can usually feel the bonk coming on, but by this time it may be too late to adequately reverse it. The key is to prevent the bonk by awareness and proper nutrition ahead of time.
Adverts on MFT...
Posted November 24th, 2008 by LoseItOnce2008Just my 2 cents... I have been noticing a few adverts here on MFT which I think is AWESOME, a great way for this site to generate revenue and hopefully even profit. However, I am speaking only for myself but I have to say that in order for the ads to be effective, they need to be tailored or at least in alignment with the website the are on. This Advert, IMO, doesn't belong on MFT;

Progress Pictures...
Posted November 1st, 2008 by LoseItOnce2008Hello Fellow Tribers!!! It has been several months since I have posted any progress pics and now that my racing season is over for the year, I have a little more time. Any comments, suggestions, areas of improvement/focus are always greatly appreciated!
Feed a Fever, Starve a Cold???
Posted October 23rd, 2008 by LoseItOnce2008Is this old saying true and if so and I have a cold then "starving it" means I don't have the proper nutrition to train. I have had a cold for about a week and a half and I haven't had any energy to workout... I also have noticed that I am not as "hungry" as I was before the cold but am wondering if my metabolism has now changed... I use to eat 6-7 small meals everyday easily... now I can barely get 3-4 small meals in and I am not "enjoying" the foods anymore>>> I already switched up what I have been eating so variety isn't the issue.
Being "in shape" prevents injury...
Posted September 30th, 2008 by LoseItOnce2008Ok, so I had a nice head on collision Friday night while riding the multipurpose trails trying to get in the "miles" and I was clocking about 18MPH coming around a left hand curve and I took the "inside" line well to my surprise I met another rider head on and flipped over the hand bars and knocked the other guy off his bike> I however was still "clipped" in to my right pedal and all my weight and bike went down hard on my right knee...
Eating like Arnold while training like Lance will make your workouts less efficient and more difficult!!!!
Posted September 24th, 2008 by LoseItOnce2008Ok, our Resident MFT Doc said this to me and it didn't quite sink in until just now. My goal is not to become a body builder nor to compete on that level nor to become a fitness model> maybe personal trainer down the road but for now my goals are to "lose it (the fat) once" and to achieve "functional muscle strength". I am still struggling with this question that is bouncing around my head... can I achieve that functional muscle strength AND achieve the endurance needed to rock out 2 hour plus HIT rides/races????
Race Results are IN...Racer #337
Posted September 11th, 2008 by LoseItOnce2008Hello Team MFT/JamCore Training... I posted a few blogs a few weeks back announcing an upcoming race and I was soliciting feedback for tips on training, etc. I didn't get any responses but none the less, I have the results from the race. It was a 16 mile race on strictly "single track" trails consisting of 2 8 mile laps. There were 225 racers from all sorts of ages and backgrounds (road racers, MTB racers, first time racers, etc). I completed the race in 1:48:40.09 (Lap 1 = 48:26.95 and Lap 2 = 1:00:13.95) and placed 155 out of 225.
Race Day...9.7.08... Need help preparing
Posted August 19th, 2008 by LoseItOnce2008MFT, I have a XC style mountain bike race coming up and I need to focus my training to get in the best condition. I have a goal and it is to finish in the Top 3... it will be a 15 mile Sport race and most last year finished it just under 2 hours. So, what I need help with is improving my "explosive strength"... my endurance is good as a 2 hour ride at an intense pace doesn't rattle me at all... what I need help with is this... what is the best way to improve my explosive strength??

Upcoming Race....Team JamCore
Posted August 19th, 2008 by LoseItOnce2008Jamo,
I have a mountain bike race coming up on September 7, 2008 and would love to use MFT as my "team" affliation> as you know I am a solo rider and I repp'ed MFT back in April at that race. I would like your permission to list MFT/JamCore as my "team affliation" AND if there is any chance you could send me (let me purchase?) one of those fancy shirts you are always wearing, I would wear it loud and proud at the race and of course to spread the word about MFT. Thoughts??
Second blog to come about preparing for this race... Jarah, would love your insight brother!

Progress Update
Posted August 5th, 2008 by LoseItOnce2008Ok so I have a minor update but none the less I was shocked at the improvement and I wanted to share with MFT. I will post some progress pics next week (the Mrs. is out of town). My progress is that I have been using the stability ball with dumbbells for my chest workout and limited my max weight to 25lbs out of concern for safety and form> being on a stability ball. Well I found a really good bench for $50 and decided that I would try and up my weight for the chest workout and see how that worked.
Stemulite...Anyone using this???
Posted July 28th, 2008 by LoseItOnce2008Several years ago, a widely respected and still used natural supplement Endothil CR entered the market... now Dr. David Summers, the creator of Endothil CR, says that body builders and athletes are using this product instead of steroids to build and sustain strength and muscle mass.
Stemulite is a stronger formulation than Endothil and now has seven key all-natural ingredients of very effective and targeted natural proteins, enzymes and amino acides, including a stem cell agonist and a trace mineral called indium.
Chin Ups/Pull Ups Question...
Posted July 22nd, 2008 by LoseItOnce2008I cannot for the life of my figure out how to get my mind to activate the proper muscles when doing pull ups... I mean I really struggle with getting 5 straight pull ups with perfecto form> meaning no kipping, no momentum, starting from a dead hang on each rep... I don't think having the strength is the issue but rather I don't think I am engaging the right muscles... my arms feel sore afterwards and NOT my back... I have access to a lat pull down machine and I have about 4-6 variations that I can do but I am more into bodyweight exercises like push ups, pull ups, etc.
Jamo at 27...
Posted July 18th, 2008 by LoseItOnce2008Found this clip on youtube... how long ago was this Jamo... you like huge and your back is insane!!!
Cannot find a Video on MFT
Posted July 14th, 2008 by LoseItOnce2008I have been searching left and right and cannot for the life of me find Sagi's "tricep" circuit... I think he called it the Tricep Shotgun Combo> I found the video titled: "shotgun arm combo" but I cannot find the video where Sagi does 3 excercises supersetted for a "magic 21".... can anyone help me out please??? I tried the search tool and all I found were some blogs but no video :(
Thanks!
GASP Clothing
Posted July 9th, 2008 by LoseItOnce2008Can anyone help me understand why GASP is so expensive... I mean $186 for a sweatshirt (hoodie) is crazy high, unless there is something unique about the sweatshirt that makes it worth the $$$. I love North Face gear because they have a lifetime warranty on all their products> no receipt needed, the item itself is your receipt so that is worth it in the long run. Does anyone have any GASP clothing, specifically the hoodies?? I love sweatshirts and look for the heaviest and warmest so as to not have to wear a winter jacket, etc... I am looking at this one:
