Is it enough
Posted January 19th, 2009 by fmaxsHey MFT:
Recently one of the bodyparts whic was usually one of my best seems to have lagged-CHEST.
I think I honestly was complacent, same weight, etc....So I was talking to guys at Golds the other day and one suggested taking a very basic approach.
Here is what he suggested-
Incline Barbell Press, 12, 10, 8, 6
Barbell Press 12, 10, 8, 6
Cable Crossover 15, 15, 15
What do you guys think?
Michael Jodscheidt' workout!
Posted January 5th, 2009 by fmaxsI did Michael's chest/back workout yesterday and it was awesome. I have not felt that rush in a long time. I was just done when it was over, and 24 hours later my chest and lats are still pumped.
Tomorrow I'm gonna do his leg thrash.

Early Mornings Workouts
Posted November 18th, 2008 by fmaxsHello!
Just needed some guidance on early morning workouts. I traditionaly have trained after work, which I love, but is preventing me from participating in vertain things with my kids. Not to mention if work runs late I ended up sometimes not getting it done.
So my main concern on early morning training is the nutrition. I simply don't wake up ready to down a meal.So the last thing I want though is to train on empty, any suggestions?
Back/Shoulders
Posted November 17th, 2008 by fmaxsHey everyone-
I need to mik up my Back/Shoulder routine
Any suggestions? I am looking for a real intense routine that I can do in about 45 minutes?
Does this Split Make any sense?
Posted October 24th, 2008 by fmaxsMy question is mainly about how these muscle groups are worked together and getting adequate rest.
Tuesday- Back and Shoulders, followed by cardio
Wed Rest
Thursday- Legs/abs
Friday Rest
Saturday- Chest/Biceps/Triceps followeed by some cardio
Sunday- Outdoor run in hills
Duration of Training
Posted October 22nd, 2008 by fmaxsHello MFT!!
So like many, years ago I subscribed to the thought that a good workout was a long one, I spent on average 90-120 minutes in what were my workouts.
A few years back I wised up and realized that I was better off training for no more than an hour, which has certainly been a good plan.
Today I see a lot of articles that talk about new more dynamic workouts, such as Crossfit, etc... the though here being more about short high intensity sessions.
what do you think?
Posted October 15th, 2008 by fmaxsOK so the goal here is getting lean and some definition.
So option A is a split routine as follows:
Tue-Chest/Abs
Wed-Cardio
Thu-Back/Biceps
Fri-Cardio
Sat-Shoulders/Tri's
Sun-Legs
Option B
Same days, but instead of the body part split I would do a full body workout Tue/Thu/Sat
Hey Everyone.
Posted October 8th, 2008 by fmaxsSo sorry I have been out of touch, please know that do stilll never miss a day of checking in to see what is at MFT. Just have not had time to blog.
But things are good on my end, no complaints. My training has really evolved to a place I love. I feel far more functional and healthy.
More soon, but to all my MFT pals, please hit me up, would love to hear from everyone.
Recruit Training
Posted September 8th, 2008 by fmaxsHey MFT-
Sorry for my absence, been very busy, but still training hard!
A fellow MFT'er had a question regarding how to prepare for recruit training (boot camp) in the Navy. I thought there may be others who could benefit from this answer so I am posting it as a blog.
I am a former US Marine and and worked in helping prepare recruits for the physical training that they will endure.
What I want to do here is clear up a few things about military style training.
Changing it up!
Posted June 11th, 2008 by fmaxsHey MFT-
The last few months have been awesome in terms of training and nutrition, I more or less stuck to real basic weight lifting and clean foods and have seen great results.
But I am ready for a change now. I wnat to construct a routine that is more about actual activity vs. size or a look.
For eaxmple I was thinking maybe-
Monday- OFF
Tuesday- Upper Body Conditioning
Wednesday- Long Run
Thursday- Upper Body Conditioning
Friday- Core/Lower Body work
Saturday- Long ride in hills
Sunday- Play sports, swim, hike, whatever.
What do you guys think?
I'm back
Posted May 22nd, 2008 by fmaxsHEY MFT!
Sorry for the absence, I have missed everyone.
Well the great news is that after years in being on the vendor side, one of my largest clients made me a great offer to come work for them, so the transition has had me swamped.
But I have to say this has been an amazing change and has put me in a better place on so many levels.
One of the awesome benefits is the Golds Gym 6 minutes away. So with the new job I make it a point to hit the gym early and have to say my training has also reaches a new level and I am loving it. Will blog more later.
Have a great weekend

Jamo/Rachelle/Clark/Lana/Rick!!!!!!!!
Posted April 8th, 2008 by fmaxsHey MFT
I had to share this with all, this weekend I attended Clark Bartram's fitness model event, and I have only one word to describe it- OUTSTANDING.
Well organized, professional, and entertaining. Clark has amazing energy and it was great to meet him and see how genuine he is.
I also had the oppourtunity to meet Lana Titus who many of have seen on the video workouts, she was also fun to meet and very engaging. Rick Schaff was also there and it was awesome to see him in action as a judge.
Iron and Calcium in Men
Posted March 17th, 2008 by fmaxsHey MFT, I recently learned that excess Iron and Calcium in men can lead to kidney stones, is this true?
If so, should men reduce iron and calcium in their meals?
