JamCore and Myfittribe "Nutrition Guy...and Strength Coach"

Coming soon, but I need your help!!!

Brian Zehetner's picture

Hey Folks,

Since Shawn provided you with a list of topics that he'll be focusing on in relation to performance enhancement, I thought I'd provide you with the starting list that Jamo and I came up with in terms of nutrition content. This is just the "tip of the iceberg" so to speak, so here you go...

Supplements for performance and health (CoQ10, Saw Palmetto, Creatine, NO2 etc--lots and lots of these, research-based)
label reading (already done on old site)
dining out (guidelines)
food pyramid (how it relates to JamCore)
snacks for kids
childhood obesity

High Fructose Corn Syrup vs. Good 'Ole Sugar

Brian Zehetner's picture

A study just came out looking at HFCS and sugar and their effects on hunger, satiety (fullness) and short-term energy intake....

Caffeine for Endurance?? Definitely...

Brian Zehetner's picture

I've noticed some posts regarding caffeine lately, and with just finishing up a caffeine article for a running publication, I thought I'd provide some insight into caffeine's ergogenic benefits...

Seriously...Frito-Lay Gets A Health Claim?

Brian Zehetner's picture

That's right folks!! The maker of Frito's, Tostito's and Dorito's, among many others, applied for and was granted a health claim for fats. As a result, food manufacturers (not just Frito-Lay) will be allowed to claim that their products can reduce the risk of heart disease if they've replaced saturated fats with unsaturated ones. The actual claim states the following:

"replacing saturated fat with similar amounts of unsaturated fats may reduce the risk of heart disease. To achieve this benefit, total daily calories should not increase."

Weight Loss? Not With That Appetite!!

Brian Zehetner's picture

TIME Magazine has several nutrition and appetite-related articles in their most recent issue.
With that said, I thought I'd highlight some of their recommendations regarding curbing that ravenous appetite, and throw in a few of my own tips. If you get the chance, pick up the mag for some interesting reading as well.

1. Eat fiber

I'm Back!!!!

Brian Zehetner's picture

Hi Everyone,

I have to apologize for my absence recently...flying around the country working with my athletes, visiting family in Milwaukee, writing articles and the like. That said, no more excuses!! I will forever be an integral part of the Myfittribe and JamCore communities. I want, no, I NEED to be one of the most active members on here being that my title is "Jamo's Nutrition Guy."
