A response to my video blog on bulking percentages...
Posted December 2nd, 2008 by Brian ZehetnerThe response below is from Jamie Yu. I thought I would post my reply to his comments for all to see, so look for those below as well...
"Brian, I have been reading your blogs and watching the vids you produced for us guys on here and I have noticed you aren't a massive proponent on 'high' protein regimes.
For myself on the other hand, I'm afraid that I am a proponent of high protein diets, we at least 2.5g per kilogram of bodyweight (erring on the side of lean bodyweight where possible).
New York Times article on carbs and proteins
Posted June 5th, 2008 by Brian ZehetnerHere you go folks...some of the leading sports nutrition researchers in the WORLD talking about some issues that I've been bringing up here lately. Let me know what you think...I'd be happy to comment on any of the issues brought up in the article (including the 4:1 ratio).

Coming soon, but I need your help!!!
Posted July 11th, 2007 by Brian ZehetnerHey Folks,
Since Shawn provided you with a list of topics that he'll be focusing on in relation to performance enhancement, I thought I'd provide you with the starting list that Jamo and I came up with in terms of nutrition content. This is just the "tip of the iceberg" so to speak, so here you go...
Supplements for performance and health (CoQ10, Saw Palmetto, Creatine, NO2 etc--lots and lots of these, research-based)
label reading (already done on old site)
dining out (guidelines)
food pyramid (how it relates to JamCore)
snacks for kids
childhood obesity
High Fructose Corn Syrup vs. Good 'Ole Sugar
Posted July 11th, 2007 by Brian ZehetnerA study just came out looking at HFCS and sugar and their effects on hunger, satiety (fullness) and short-term energy intake....
Caffeine for Endurance?? Definitely...
Posted July 2nd, 2007 by Brian ZehetnerI've noticed some posts regarding caffeine lately, and with just finishing up a caffeine article for a running publication, I thought I'd provide some insight into caffeine's ergogenic benefits...
Seriously...Frito-Lay Gets A Health Claim?
Posted June 14th, 2007 by Brian ZehetnerThat's right folks!! The maker of Frito's, Tostito's and Dorito's, among many others, applied for and was granted a health claim for fats. As a result, food manufacturers (not just Frito-Lay) will be allowed to claim that their products can reduce the risk of heart disease if they've replaced saturated fats with unsaturated ones. The actual claim states the following:
"replacing saturated fat with similar amounts of unsaturated fats may reduce the risk of heart disease. To achieve this benefit, total daily calories should not increase."
Weight Loss? Not With That Appetite!!
Posted June 4th, 2007 by Brian ZehetnerTIME Magazine has several nutrition and appetite-related articles in their most recent issue.
With that said, I thought I'd highlight some of their recommendations regarding curbing that ravenous appetite, and throw in a few of my own tips. If you get the chance, pick up the mag for some interesting reading as well.
1. Eat fiber
I'm Back!!!!
Posted June 1st, 2007 by Brian ZehetnerHi Everyone,
I have to apologize for my absence recently...flying around the country working with my athletes, visiting family in Milwaukee, writing articles and the like. That said, no more excuses!! I will forever be an integral part of the Myfittribe and JamCore communities. I want, no, I NEED to be one of the most active members on here being that my title is "Jamo's Nutrition Guy."
