MyFitTribe recently profiled a few women’s health issues, and now it’s time to turn our attention to the other sex. Just like asking for directions, men seem to have a problem seeking help when it comes to medical problems. Men, listen up – here are five major warning signs that you need to pay attention to.
- Chest Pain – Chest pain is the most common symptom of a heart attack. You should seek immediate medical attention if you have chest tightness, chest pain, or shortness of breath.
- Belly Fat – No more cheating by lowering your belt. Measure your waist circumference regularly to keep an eye on this risk factor for diabetes and coronary artery disease.
- Impotence – Erectile dysfunction can be a sign of heart disease – if the blood isn’t circulating properly to the penis, there could be problems in other areas as well.
- Frequent Urination – Increased urination could be a sign of prostate dysfunction.
- Prescription Drug Dependency – Sometimes, men don’t even realize it, but they’re addicted to “scrips”. The most commonly abused are painkillers. Monitor your intake of prescription drugs and seek help if you are experiencing any side effects. Consult your doctor to know when you should stop taking painkillers after an injury or to figure out if you’ve become dependent on them.
