MYFITTRIBE needs your help!!
Posted June 1st, 2007 by Jamo Nezzar
Ok all you brave members, we are going to be launching a new feature on the site shortly that lets you track and graph your statistics such as bodyweight, lifting stats and that kind of thing. Except we're so tired of coding we can't think of what features to add, so we're asking YOU (well we were going to ask you anyway, but the sooner the better!) what features and statistics you want to see in the application. So throw down any ideas you have right here in the comments, and we'll be sure to take all of your ideas and build you the best stats tracker out there!

New to the Site
I am new to the site and stumbled across this here. Has this been made available on the site yet as I have not yet seemed to of found it.
Thanks
Eddie
Not quite yet.
Hi there, and welcome to the site. No, we haven't quite gotten around to finishing it off yet. Unfortunately we have been crazy busy with other projects and haven't been able to get it polished off. We are hoping to get it finished off this month, but if we don't have the time and there is demand for it, we may just put it on the site in its current form - which is UGLY, but useable - and then finish it off at a later date.
Oh ok.
Just curious. :) Love the site. Look forward to using it more often!!
Tracker
I'd like to see a tracking tool where you can fill in the date, body measurements (arms, chest, waist, hips, thighs, calves), body statistics (weight, height, age, bf %), and a picture corresponding to the data. It would be cool if that tool can spit out the data the user inputs into a neat chart. then the user can input their progress on a weekly/monthly basis and can compare the before and afters.

Helen, you read our minds, as this is practically exactly what we are making for our first version of it :)
functional stats
Jamo, I am a big fan of your approach to fitness which emphasizes fitness over size. Along these lines I think it would be great to track milestones of fitness that are functionally based-things like flexibility, endurance, balance, and strength. Of course it is important to monitor body fat percentage and waist to hip ratios are important for not only looks but also heart disease and diabetes risk. Though not very sexy, blood pressure and pule rate are important , too- these diseases often start early in life and can be prevented and even reversed if caught early.

my 2 cents
Thanks for inviting our comments on this subject.
I would use an internet based stats site if it included all of the before mentioned points, including physical activity, diet and nutrition.
BUT only if it were also; 1) QUICK AND EASY TO USE 2) set individual goals [starting point, the journey, reaching your goal, maintaining your goal] 3) analyze all progress 4) graph progress 5) compare 6) have access to professionals when you need them for advise and direction 7) keep daily journal where one could note changes in overall health [ie.energy levels, unusual/unexpected reactions to an excersize, menstrual cycles and how they effect your work-out, etc.]
If it couldn't do everything, I probably wouldn't use it. I could just write it down in a spiral.
I do like the concept and look forward to seeing what you come up with :)
tracker
if i gave you my basic stats once a week i hope you would be able to tell me what i should and should not be doing.
Suggestions
I would suggest you track the things that we do on our website: SupplementTests.com.
1. Weight
2. Waist size
3. Bicep size
4. Bodyfat
5. Lean body mass
6. Strength
For the strengh test, you pick a weight that you think you can bench press (or curl) ten times. For example, if you think you can bench press 200 lbs 10 times, then that's the weight you use throughout the test to test your strengh. For example, on day one, you might bench press 200 lbs 9 times. At the end of 3 months, you might be able to bench press 200 lbs 14 times. We found this a lot easier than trying to max out on a weight.

LETS TRACK!
I think the biggest party of loosing weight, gaining weight, adding muscle ect. is to "track" your progress. I think it would be cool to have like a 4 - 8 -12 - and 16 week tracker all different! Like if i need to track 16 weeks then i can choose to or wannt to see just 4 weeks and so on. Personal preference is the key to longevity of the tracking! Now with that said.. a general calorie tracker, weight (body) tracker, weight (equipment or plates), and exercise duration i feel would be all that is needed! Give or take a few things... also a few graphs and maybe a section for the "top gainer" or "most lean" and so on in that 4 - 8 -12- or 16 week period could be like the winner of "completed goal of the month" or what ever something like that and put that person on the home page... all that would be some great ideas bro!!! Hope i could be of some help!! love the site as usual KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK JAMO!!!!

Hmmm there are a million
Hmmm there are a million things to track. To name a few, here are some ideas people might be interested in:
Body Weight stats/graphs
Body Fat stats
Lifting stats (weight)
Total Work out duration stats
The amount of Cardio (duration) and lifting (duration) stats (per day)
Cardio Types you've done and Lifting Types you've done
Schedule/planners for the week
Goal stats vs current progress Or just goals.
Food related stats i.e. types, calories, goals
Treat Meal stats (Just how much junk have I eaten this week or month and what did I eat)
Suppliment Stats (Suppliments, protein drinks - good way to see if there is any change)
To make these downloadable or printable would also be great! :)
I agree 100% with my friend.
I agree 100% with my friend. How about something printable with stats that you can print and fill out at your workout. So you can track your weights, excercises, goals and weight that day. You could have set up each week with possibly a heading with motivating words from Jamo. Maybe make it on your profile to plug the stats in and see your progression.
