Bad Food Culprit of the Week: Swanson Hungry-Man Dinners
Ok, I know we already did a bad food of the week, but after seeing this one, I had to do another one!!
Next time you’re hungry, if I were you I would NOT reach for a Hungry-Man dinner! It may seem somewhat obvious that if you purchase a meal called “Hungry-Man” then it will be high in calories. Even so, I was still surprised by how bad some of these dinners actually are. Take the “Hungry-Man All Day Breakfast” with scrambled eggs, buttermilk pancakes, hashed brown potatoes, sausages and bacon strips. This meal has 1032 calories and 64 grams of fat, 21 grams of which is saturated. That’s 572 calories from fat! A person eating a 2000-calorie diet per day should consume less than 65 grams of fat in a WHOLE DAY. Not to mention the 2090 mg of sodium and 690mg of cholesterol contained in this meal. A “Hungry-Man Beef-Pot Roast”, with 590 calories and 26 grams of fat is a bit better than the All Day Breakfast, but still has high amounts of sodium and sugar. Overall, most of the Hungry-Man dinners are high in fat, sodium, and/or sugar. Definitely not a good choice no matter how hungry you are.

Whoa!
1032 calories?! Man, that's almost my entire day's worth, and with hardly no value to it at all. sheesh!
Note to self no Hungry Man
