1) Eat foods high in Omega-3 fatty acids, DHA and EPA such as Salmon and Tuna. Flaxseeds are also an excellent source
2) Read daily
3) Reduce the amount of time you spend watching TV to less than one hour daily
4) Do crossword puzzles or brainteasers
5) Avoid binge drinking
6) Minimize sugar consumption
7) Supplement with multivitamins
8) Avoid trans fats and hydrogenated oils
9) Exercise daily
10) Eat foods high in antioxidants such as blueberries
11) Maintain a positive outlook on life
12) Get enough sleep
13) Eat tryptophan-rich foods before bed such as bananas

Yes, healthy nutritional habits, exercise (very important!) and stress management are all key to maintaining memory as is using your brain. For those over 40, supplementing with pregnenolone can also be important for optimal memory. I usually suggest 100 mg daily.

bananas before bed?
I thought that bananas were too high in calories and fat to eat before bed.
