Breast Growth in Males

Lavender and tea tree oil may cause breast growth in males. A recent study published in The New England Journal of Medicine studied three boys that developed prepubertal gynecomastia, a rare condition that casues breast growth. All of the male subjects had used topical products containing lavender and tea tree oil prior to developing the condition. After they discontinued use of the products, the symptoms disappeared. Studies were completed on human cell lines and found the oils to have estrogenic and antiandrogenic properties (Henley et al., 2007).

Further studies will need to determine whether similar effects occur in girls and adults.

As far as I know, the male breast thing is a pretty rare occurence...no reason to boycot using all lavender and tea tree oil products or anything...however, if you use a ton of lavender or tea tree oil, you may want to cut back.

Well I wouldn't use them

It is probably a rare occurrence because you don't see too many males using lavender and tea tree oils in combination. There is no real compelling reason to purchase these products either (in my opinion) so why even bother if there is a statistically significant risk of developing gyno?

yeah i really have no idea

yeah i really have no idea why people would be compelled to buy these....unless they're obsessed with lavender and tea tree oils...in which case I don't really know what to say lol
